*Is there anyone at the Giant who could at least come and pick him up since he's being called in to work?  Could he request to be picked up?  Seems only fair.

The impassable roads is one reason they are calling him in early. We live on a very long, narrow cul-de-sac. Any vehicle venturing to the house would be required to go all the way down to the dead-end in the marsh and then try the climb back up the hill to return to the highway.

Well, could they at least meet him at the top of the hill?  Is DR SWW planning on staying at the store overnight?

I was not especially popular in high school (never got elected to the student council past ninth grade, for example), but I got out of it everything I wanted to get from it, and it wasn't an unpleasant experience.

I was definitely NOT a follower, however, that's for sure.

MattH's HTF forum review of LOLA MONTES is linked in the lastest Criteron e-blast.  Congrats, Matt.

Thanks. They've been very kind lately linking a good many of my reviews, so I've been very pleased. Of course, it helps if you give the disc a good review. :)

Listen, after watching all five previous seasons I want to enjoy and love this final season of Lost.  I'm hoping that this setup pays off somehow, but when they introduced this new group of players (a ploy they've used several times now) I just said, "Stop."  I especially dislike the second in command, the Manson look-a-like.

SORT OF SPOILER WARNING!

Well, to tell the truth, this is not a new group of players.  They are Others and they've been around since season one.  The only new people are Dagon and his interpreter (who is evidently named Lennon.)

What we don't know right now is exactly what happened to the Others during the three year period between the time the Oceanic 6 (plus 2) escaped the island and the second airplane (Flight 316) crash landed.  This group of Others ensconced in the temple seem to have taken up permanent residence there ever since being sent by Ben to escape the freighter mercenaries.  But there was also the other Others who are more docile and took up residence at the beach camp (these are the ones who followed Fake Locke and Ben to the four-toed statue foot and to Jacob.)  Hopefully, we will get the fill-in on what happened to cause this schism.

Thank you, DR Dan (the Man) for putting some perspective on the three hours of show thus far this season. I'm willing to go along for the ride and go where they lead me and then make judgments at the end of the season whether I liked the ride or not.

I watched Monday night's DAMAGES when I went downstairs. Good episode, and this week featured no flashfowards at all. It didn't need them as it was tense enough and exciting enough to do without this week.

I am thoroughly and completely enjoying the final season of LOST.   So I am putting some

******POSSIBLE SPOILER SPACE HERE*********

I like the sideways time line.  I like, and expected, what may have happened to Claire (although it raises a few questions about Rousseau and her team, Richard, Christian and especially John Locke).
LOST is an incredible journey to a mysterious island.  It is HOW the writers and directors are moving us along that journey that keeps me coming back for more.

*********END POSSIBLE SPOILER SPACE*********

I wholly agree with you, td!

I love the "time-out-of-whack" alternate story lines.  The paralleling of the inevitable crossing of paths for the people who survived, or were on the island as "the others", is intriguing.  Seeing Ethan treating Claire in that Brentwood hospital was eerily chilling given that we know he abducted her on the island in Season 3 (?) and took her to one of the Dharma enclaves as a patient when he was an "other".  I halfway expected Charley to turn up as a patient in that hospital.

And the writers seem to be developing the story arcs on the theory that anything that changes a timeline may NOT ultimately change the outcome that the original path was leading toward.

While I cooked and ate lunch, I watched NCIS. Enjoyed seeing "SuperMarine" again in a different context. McGee was very funny with his exhaustion.

I spent the rest of the afternoon watching four episodes of STARGATE UNIVERSE 1.0. The adventures are all right, but I find so many of the personalities prickly and unlikable. If it weren't for David Blue's character, there would be no humor or lightness at all, and with all the doomsday stuff, they REALLY need his character. Looks like this is kind of a peril of the week sort of series, not my favorite kind.

There are lots of bonus features, too, and I haven't even scratched the surface with them, so when I go back down, I'll start on those featurettes. Then there are commentaries for each episode that I'll sample.

As for "Past Life", the opening paragraph of the New York Times review contains an interesting factoid:

"There’s morbid, and then there’s prime-time morbid. Add up the shows that involve communicating with dead people or investigating how they died and you’ll find that just under half of the dramas on the big-four networks are predicated, week in and week out, on death.

"(The CW, by comparison, is the land of the living, though even there “Supernatural” and “The Vampire Diaries” contribute to the body count.)"

-I guess this genre is becoming the new "reality TV". ::)

I understand the Others.  These are brand new Others - they just conveniently do this when they need new characters and enough is really enough.  They have many interesting characters and they can barely figure out what to do with THEM, let alone introducing brand new people in season six.  But I remember the same thing in Alias, with its haineshisway.com fans saying the same thing - that they'd go along for the ride and were fine with everything and would judge at the end of the final season.  And after sticking with that show for its entire run and being jerked around endlessly from seasons three on, the final season was almost a complete joke - and I didn't even watch the final episode I was so annoyed by that time.  Lost has a LOT of story to pay off, and they really, in MY opinion, did not need all this stuff they introduced, unless it's going to pay off in some spectacular way.  I will stay with it to the bitter end, but am just hoping they don't pull an Alias.

Work is ongoing with the garage right now - smoothing things out and making the incline less steep so the bottom of my car does not scrape.
