DR MBARNUM - they will indeed begin my subscription to CLASSIC IMAGES with this month's issue so I can read your article, and hopefully my Scary Monsters will arrive next week.

I let "Carol" know that I wanted the issue because of your article.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Dance.

I decided to try on the coat when I first directed the show in 1994.  ;D

I don't think I did.  If everyone wants to know it, I can reveal it here in the posts (but not in the notes).

The Washington Post's Mensa Invitational once  again asked readers to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by  adding, subtracting, or changing one letter, and supply a new definition.
Here are the 2009 winners:

1. Cashtration (n.): The act of buying a house, which renders the subject financially impotent for an indefinite period of time.

2. Ignoranus: A person who's both stupid and an asshole.

3. Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with.

4. Reintarnation: Coming back to life as a hillbilly.

5. Bozone (n.): The substance surrounding stupid people that stops bright ideas from penetrating. The bozone layer, unfortunately, shows little sign of breaking down in the near future.

6. Foreploy: Any misrepresentation about yourself for the purpose of getting laid.

7. Giraffiti: Vandalism spray-painted very, very high

8. Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who doesn't get it.

9. Inoculatte: To take coffee intravenously when you are running late.

10. Osteopornosis: A degenerate disease. (This one got extra credit.)

11. Karmageddon: It's like, when everybody is sending off all these really bad vibes, right?  And then, like, the Earth explodes and it's like,
                              a serious bummer.

12.. Decafalon (n..): The gruelling event of getting through the day consuming only things that are good for you.

13. Glibido: All talk and no action.

14. Dopeler Effect: The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly.

15. Beelzebug (n.): Satan in the form of a mosquito, that gets into your bedroom at three in the morning and cannot be cast out.

16. Caterpallor (n.): The color you turn after finding half a worm in the fruit you're eating.

Well, OLTL is screwed up today because Channel 7 is intent on updating everyone on "the snow." Hourly. It isn't that I don't applaud this public service, but we also have the Weather Channel, New York One and other sources of information. I've heard the snow news every hour since I was awake, so what the hell else can they tell you? Their advice at two? Stay indoors.

DR Elmore - I love the new vocabulary!  And, welcome to our world, regarding the TV stations and weather.  Do yours have the graphics and scary music at the opening of each segment?

Manhattan School of Music is also closed today. I guell I'll have to play around the neighborhood. When my laundry is finished, I'll go out for a walk.

Here's a horrendous piece of news that should delight our former vice-president and his followers for a return to good ole family values:
http://www.stuff.co.nz/world/americas/3310930/Waterboarding-used-on-girl-4

You know what's really interesting??  The website that you linked to is from New Zealand but the guy is from Yelm in Thurston County, Washington, about 20 minutes away from where I live and work!

It really is a small world.

And Channel 2 (CBS) has gone ahead and pre-empted "The Bold & The Beautiful" and "As the World Turns" for a special Weather program.  -They'll be showing the pre-empted shows during the wee hours later tonight/tomorrow morning.

Wednesday morning greetings!  I'm supposed to have a blood test today, but we're still pretty snowbound and it can wait until later today or tomorrow, even.

I'm glad the urgency is reduce enough to wait until you can travel safely.

The snow has prevented me from going to work-work today.
I've already shoveled out one driveway and salted it.  This is a heavy, wetter snow, so, that IS WORK.

Heavy-wet snow, no fun at all!

Oh...

I'll talk a little bit more about UPTA in Memphis later, but here's one quite memorable thing from this past weekend:

There was one auditionee who, when she announced her name, we all did a double-take - along with a little gasp and/or giggle.  She didn't announce it this way, but on her form, it looked like this:

Last Name: Pitt
First Name: Avocado

Well, the snow seems to be subsiding after leaving about 10 inches, I'd guess.  But it's still windy.  My car looks almost as bad as it did Sunday.

Re pre-empting the soaps, etc, the local (Washington, DC) CBS channel is showing them on their additional channel (for example, Channel 9 has Channel 9.2).   They've been mentioning what cable and satellite channel to go to.   I'm surprised the New York affiliate doesn't do the same.

Get up, DR JOSE!  It's after 11 a.m. !!!!

:)

After having to get up at 5:30am the past six days, I was due for a good sleep-in day today.  -And I usually have a "crash day" after these conferences.  My body and my mind needs it.

*I did get up at 9:00am to look outside to check the progress of the snow.  It didn't look that impressive at the time.  However, at 11:30am... and then 12:30pm... WOW!  :)

Remember the conductor I wanted sacked? Well, I hear he's gone crazy trying to turn a concert of a historical recreation into a travesty of an Encores! production. I can only wish him a broken leg. Literally.

ASK BK 2

Do you think using a similar model that Warner Bros is using for their on demand DVDs, that it would work for the music industry? Pressing only the cds that are sold instead of having stock that doesn't sell? Or is the limited edition of 1000 the way to go?

It's already happening with Arkiv Music and on amazon, so it's already working.  For us, with soundtracks, the 1000 model seems to be working fine.

DR Michael S - What bk said.

*Deutsche Grammophon - the classical label - started offering some of there "out of print" titles via there website two years ago.
