Well, you've read the notes, the notes were mysterious and girlish, and now it is time for you to post until the mysterious cows come home.

TOD: Somewhere in Portugal. I've been to the country twice now, and can't get enough. The lifestyle is quiet, unassuming and relaxed in a way that welcomes you without being overbearing. The seafood is the freshest you could ask for, and the cuisine is rustic yet full of flavor.

I put the finishing touches on a new magazine this morning that is set to come out in March. San Antonio Taste, a food and lifestyle publication that will appear quarterly -- if we get some subscribers and enough newsstand interest. It's quite exciting, if we can get the corrections made and the printing looks even better than the proofs. So, if there's such a thing as editing/printing vibes, please send them along.

Good morning!

Warmer this morning than it's been for quite a while, so the walk was non-taxing. The forecast had called for possibly more snow, but it was too warm for that, and it's been raining for the last half hour, very gingerly.

I have two friends who just got back from a week in St. Croix, and that sounds marvelous to me. Anywhere to escape this snow and cold for a bit.

Today I get to a movie I've been looking forward to, one I've never seen before by one of America's most famous film directors: MAKE WAY FOR TOMORROW directed by Leo McCarey. Love all of the cast members (all character actors, not a Box Office star among them but plenty of stars to suit me) and I can't wait to finally get to see it.

The film's only a bit over 90 minutes, and the bonuses aren't plentiful either, so I should be able to complete it this afternoon unless lunch runs long.

Most of the networks are playing semi-dead tonight due to the Olympics. There is a new BACHELOR episode on ABC and a new '24' on Fox. DAMAGES, of course, has a new episode on FX.

Most everything else is either preempted due to the Olympics or a rerun (including CASTLE).

I noticed from the TV listings that FROST/NIXON is finally making its pay cable appearance this Saturday on HBO, so that'll be another Oscar contender from 2008 I can cross off my list once I record it and watch it.

Unless some review material comes in this week, I will be done by mid-week. I have the SHAW ON FILM set of three movies and the DVD release of HOWARDS END (which I've already reviewed on Blu-ray), and that's all that's here. Could I be looking at a potential run of days off near the end of the week? That would be GREAT!

Just a tip if you're curious about Blu-ray. Amazon today has a combo VHS/Blu-ray machine on sale for $140. It's a Panasonic which is a company which supports its products with firmware upgrades when needed. Of course, being Blu-ray means it also plays regular DVDs too, so this is a unit that plays tapes, DVDs and Blu-rays all in one unit. And for a steal of a price.

The Hollywood Video site has a lot of PV DVD's and a few BluRays on sale.  Free shipping, and the code 25PV will get you an additional 25% off....

HOWEVER after you place your order (create an account first) - if you get a page that says WHOOPS TRY AGAIN....don't try again...wait a few minutes and check your account to see if the order is processing.

I tried twice more and then got three orders processing.....the charges are pending and NO RESPONSE to an email, so if I don't hear from them today, when the charges post, I will have to dispute two of them.

That code is 25 PV without the space....it looks like an 'S' in my post above.

I'm heading downstairs now to get cleaned up for lunch out today with best friend John. Then, I'll try to squeeze in a little viewing before he picks me up.

London as well. If I couldn't get a room then I would hop across the pond to Dublin with a stop, perhaps, in Cardiff

Indiana's Evan Bayh a career politician who has fed at the public trough all of his life will not seek a third term for the Senate this year.  I do not think we have heard the last of this fool - his is in the Clintons' pockets.  Something is up.  You heard it hear first.
