DR Elmore - Do you have a phone number for your upstairs neighbor? If so, you could always "wake" him up when he wakes you up.

I'd buy a cheap cell phone just to do that, Jose!

DR Elmore: put some cheap porn on the VCR (maybe you know someone who has some  ;) ) and elevate a speaker as close as you can get it to the ceiling. Then crank up the audio. Maybe he'll get the message. If nor, at least he'll be impressed by your stamina!

DR elmore -- Perhaps you could get one of those old fashioned battery operated alarm clocks -- the kind with the really obnoxiously loud ring -- and tape it onto the end of a long stick.  Open you window, hold the stick up to the outside of his window above you, and let it ring. And ring.

Yes, that's what you need.  An alarm clock on a stick.

Murray's funniest comment so far, after seeing THE BELLS OF ST MARY'S, is that after seeing a Leo McCarey film he wanted to go out and be mean to someone.

Well, I can understand the comment after seeing THE BELLS OF ST. MARY'S, but certainly not all of this films were sweetness and light. Once can't watch MAKE WAY FOR TOMORROW and not feel a bit ashamed of human nature.

I'm also very sorry to read from DR MBarnum about the passing of the handsome Ken Clark.

The Oscars start here at 8:30. That always makes for SUCH a long night. (Of course arrivals begin on ABC a half hour earlier, and on other cable channels much earlier.)

Good morning!

Seemed cold this morning on my walk, but we're getting up into the 60s over the next few days, so spring is definitely on the way! I am SO glad.

I definitely will be working on YOJIMBO today. It's a Blu-ray release of a Criterion disc that's been out for quite some time.

Nice to see a CASTLE rerun on the schedule tonight. That'll give me something to watch while I eat lunch tomorrow. CBS has an NCIS rerun tonight, too, so that should also be fun.

Thanks, Matt.  I just now focused on that 8:30 start time - a half hour later than it had been in recent years.  I wonder why.

They start at 8:30 here in Austin, too.

Barbara Walter comes on before the Oscars.

I know it won't happen, but I'd love to see the "dark horse" (INGLORIOUS BASTERDS) grab the Best Picture Oscar tomorrow night.

Still, I'll be pleased if THE HURT LOCKER wins.

Anything but AVATAR.

I've picked THE HURT LOCKER in all the guessing Oscar contests I've entered, but I really just have no idea what the thinking is going to be. The acting categories are mostly a piece of cake this year. Can't believe Best Picture is the one that's a toss-up.

I can't comment on the TOD. I've either forgotten forever anything important and it's never going to come back to me, or the thing I've forgotten wasn't so monumental to begin with.

Now I'm going to head down and maybe watch that second LAW & ORDER from Monday night before starting to cook lunch. Then, I'll watch PSYCH while I eat. Then, I'll see about starting on YOJIMBO.

Several years ago, my late friend/client Dan O'Herlihy did a play reading with Nan Martin at a theater in Malibu.

For the life of me, I can't remember the title of the play, but it's a 2-person play about George Bernard Shaw and his exchange of letters with a famous actress of his day.

Somebody here must know the title and name of the actress.  My 69-year-old memory can't recall it.

In any event, I do remember that Dan was very pissed off at Ms. Martin.  This was supposed to be a reading, and she had memorized her role, which made Dan look bad because he was carrying his script.

I see that actress Nan Martin has died.

She was in one of the INVISIBLE MAN sequels, I think....very pretty Universal starlet....unless I am thinking of the wrong girl.

At work today....oh well.

In the early 1960s, I saw Nan Martin at Seattle's Moore Theater in a try-out of a new play that, I believe, closed after its Los Angeles date.

It was based on the works of Hemingway, and was titled, I think, A SHORT HAPPY LIFE.

Aside from Ms. Martin, the cast included Rod Steiger, Keir Dullea, Salome Jens and Harvey Lembeck.

Maybe, but I'm not sure.

I think the play is called DEAR...?

It used to be performed quite often.
