At first, I was kind of glad about the inclusion of "I Say A Little Prayer" into the new PROMISES--I had always thought it sounded like it belonged to the score (in fact, years ago I had asked on this here very board if the song had possibly been written for the show and a number of folk answered that it had been written years earlier.)

But now that I study the lyrics, I'm not sure who would sing such a song.  Surely not Fran about Sheldrake--she's too cynical about their relationship to sing a song like that.  One possibility would be to give it to Miss Olsen--I forget what she's like in the musical and whether the song would fit.  But this is moot if they are just using it as curtain/exit music--that makes no sense at all but that's the new Broadway for ya...

Living room couch and Ensoniq keyboard are both sold.  Still need a buyer for the teak futon couch.  Oh, and the house.  :)

Okay, I'll buy the damn futon!  You do deliver?

It's sung by Fran, from what I understand, but is some sort of dance thing with some secretaries (all this second-hand from reports I've read).

Words of advice:  don't go out shopping for shoes on the weekend before Easter.

June Havoc has died. I met her around 1984, and she was very kind.

That is too bad.  Weren't she and Jeffrey lesbians?

Today I have received like six e-mails from one of my credit card companies telling me that my payment has been received.  Unfortunately, all six e-mails are regarding the same payment.

Hmmm...I don't know if I buy that, either (not that what you've heard is incorrect--whether it works in the show.)  Fran is a loner.  I don't see her dancing with co-workers (secretaries who would probably look down on her, office-caste-wise.)

Pulling out my copy of the libretto, here...  Need to reacquaint myself with the script.

Stupid, stupid idea.

IMHO, of course.

And how, pray tell, will they shoe horn this into the book?  Is Neil Simon coming up with a "Sweet Charity" trio fantasy scene?

I can't understand why Kristin Chenoweth thinks she needs another song?  She has some of the best songs in the show!

I have an idea--why don't they have Fran, Miss Olsen and Marge (the Marian Mercer character) get together and sing Bouncy's "All The Single Ladies"?  That would pack 'em in!

Is PROMISES PROMISES being done as a Sixties musical, or are they trying to update it to today?

I believe it's been kept in its period.  And Miss Chenoweth has TWO new songs now - Prayer and House Is Not A Home, both of which apparently add at least ten useless minutes to act one.  In act two, Mr. Hayes gets a reprise of House Is Not A Home.  From what I read, the show, with intermission, lasts close to three hours.

Maybe Fran could do a dream / nightmare number where she is married to Sheldrake and sings ONE LESS BELL TO ANSWER?

I know that a lot of people will argue with me, but I still think that Sean Hayes is wrong for the show.

Maybe they could take some of those gosh-awful songs from LOST HORIZON and put them in the show.  Chuck and Fran could sing Question Me an Answer and they could throw out Turkey Lurkey Time and replace it with The World is a Circle.

I noticed yesterday that my crocus, tulips and daffodils are starting to come up.  I also saw my first Robin yesterday, she was looking for a place to nest

Wow, all of the crocus, tulips, daffodils, and flowering cherry have been in bloom for the last three weeks or so.  Last weekend, I even saw a beautiful camellia bush...tree...shrub inf full bloom.

Yes, well three weeks ago we still had over a foot of snow on the ground

I am pooped!!! About 10:45 AM I went outside and started raking up the deer droppings and some of the dried grass etc.  I got the section of the yard by the front of the house done and then started up the new pressure washer.   I went non stop until 3:45 PM.  I cleaned all the stone on the front of the house, the sidewalk and the front porch.  You'd think it wouldn't take that long, but it did.  Then I moved the bird bath, the lions that go on my front steps, and the table and chairs and wicker chaise lounge out of the garage and on to the front porch or their respective places in the front of the house.

Although I am exhausted, the house looks great and I should be OK  when the appraiser drives by.

My neighbor decided to redo his part of the fence between our houses and asked if I minded if he cut down the little volunteer trees and scrub growing between our house. He aslo wondered about digging up the compost pile from the former owners.  I told him to knock himself out!  I was planning to do some of the same things this summer but if he wants to do it, great!.  They are planning to replace their gate and fence. My gate on that side is a mess, so when he offered to take mine out, I told him I'd be glad to put in a gate that matches theirs.  It's a pretty narrow area and would look much better if they match.  He seems fine with doing the work.  Cool

I have been posting photos of Arizona flowers. I think it's time other folks post photos of their flowers, too, now that spring is here (for some, anyway).
