So far, no UPS truck has appeared, so unless it does, I'll have the day off. The ALVIN & THE CHIPMUNKS sequel comes out today, so I'm assuming the Blu-ray is on its way to my house, but it may not get here today for me to review to meet the street date.

A fairly uninteresting night for TV, too, except for LOST and SOUTHLAND. Of course, I'll record IDOL again, but my patience for it is running extremely thin. This may be the last week I bother with it this season.

I am ready to DISCO in this photo, but if I rotate myself, I am squished....so turn your monitor on its left side to property view me.  ::)

I did that, and you appeared to be doing a "finger stand" upside down.  :)

Of course, once CBS starts showing new episodes again and once GLEE reappears in its 9 p.m. slot after IDOL, Tuesday will once again be an interesting night for viewing all around.

Thanks for the charm, JR, evidently we need it as we haven't heard from the couple I thought was/were going to make an offer.   ;D

Does couple take a singular or plural verb?

Of course, I'll be watching the conclusion of the CASTLE two-part episode while I eat lunch today. I also have DAMAGES and LAW & ORDER both recorded last night. And I may get to GRAN TORINO today, too, if my review project doesn't appear.

With the way you used it in that sentence above, it should be a singular verb.

Couple takes a plural verb, acccording to the Associated Press stylebook. So, it would be "the couple are ..." Sounds awkward, but that's the rule I learned.

re: DANCING WITH THE STARS last night

There were only a few couples that impressed me.

I thought Nicole and derek were sensational. I know she has a bit of a dance background. But it's not just that. I think derek is one of the best choreographers. And to me that makes a huge difference. She is my definite favorite.

Even though i don't care for anna usually i thought her and evan were really good.

And even though i thought shannen was not too good last week. The jive suited her. And mark is a great choreographer.

I also thought that pamela anderson was interesting. I have no idea if she was dancing the steps correctly. But she totally imbodied marilyn monroe and she was really enjoyable to watch.

There were a bunch that were painful to watch.  I know the judges praised erin. But to me she is stiff. But painful was chad. Last week i thought he had so much rhythm.

Buzz was also not too good. Although he was much better than last week.

But by far the most painful to watch was kate gosselin. I have to say that was one of the worst things i've seen. IT was really bad.

Have any of our tv schedule posters mentioned CRIMINAL INTENT starts its new season tonight?  It looks like maybe Goren bites the dust from the trailers they've been showing.  Of course it's already been announced D'Onofrio and Erbe are both leaving the show.

Tuesday morning greetings!  It's a beautiful day here in SW Ohio, the first of several predicted right through Easter Sunday.  We're off to Cincinnati this afternoon to pick up the ham for tomorrow's "Green Eggs and Ham" dinner.  I made the first batch of green (Jello) eggs this morning and will do another this evening.  At some point, we should hear from my sister, who's arriving today from Michigan.  There may be a get-together of some sort this evening at Otterbein (the retirement community) which is on our way home from Cincinnati.

I do know that the visiting contingent from Japan wants to go shopping today (well, my cousin's wife wants to go shopping).  They caught a glimpse of the brand new outlet mall on their way in yesterday - it's right down the road from Otterbein, so my aunt won't have to worry too much about them getting lost (but she will anyway  ::))

There is a Canadian chain called Harvey's. I always really liked their hamburgers growing up.

Not on my monitor.  You are cutting quite a figure (along with the rug.)

We didn't eat out a lot when I was growing up, and we certainly didn't eat at fast food places, so my first hamburger likely was at home. (I didn't keep a burger journal.) But we didn't eat them too often. Maybe that's why I'm such a hamburger addict now. Nothing like a good juicy burger (made with a 70:30 meat-to-fat ratio) and grilled over an open flame.

Toppings are important, too. I love what is called a dirty burger with a fried egg on top so the yolk breaks open and flavors the burger. Then there's the local favorite, the bean burger, with refried beans, Frito's and melted cheese. This past weekend, I came across a burger topped with foie gras that certainly sounded tempting, but I somehow passed on it.

My perfect burger will probably always be the next one to come.

When I read he was leaving, I immediately crossed the show off my must-see list. Nothing against Jeff GOldblum, but the show started with him and Erbe, and it isn't the same show without them. I was even willing to go along with them halving the season with him and (first) Chris Noth and then Goldblum, but for them not to be on the show at all, no thanks.

Speaking of journals, I'm just about finished THE RED LEATHER DIARY by Lily Koppel.  I had started it about a year ago but misplaced it on a weekend trip (it was just returned to me.)  What a wonderful book!  I've always had a strong affinity for the early 30's, especially involving Manhattan and its environs--I really do think I lived there in my previous life.  I think a couple of peeps here have also read this book.  I recommend it highly.

DR Dan - my book group read The Red Leather Diary last year and loved it!

One of the best brugers of my past was at a Lexington, Ky., landmark called Columbia's Steak House. It was always affordable during college days (early '80s). It was a half-pound burger, cooked a perfect medium, and came with steak fries. Plenty of A-1 and it would hold me through the week. Yum.
