This wasn't exactly an April Fool's "joke," but it really, really upset me, because I bothered a friend needlessly as a result of it. In 1968 A&M Records released a specialty album of Christmas tunes done by their biggest acts which was only available through B.F. Goodrich. One of the tunes was a great rendition of "Chestnuts" (yes, I know the real title) by Brasil '66. Years later on an A&M discussion board, some idiot posted that he had found a limited edition Christmas album by Sergio & Company and he listed all the songs, including "Chestnuts," but also including one I had never heard of by Styne/Comden/Green. Everyone was very excited by this news (yes, we're hopeless geeks), and I made the mistake of emailing Amanda Green to see if she knew of the song by her father. Of course a day later this friggin' idiot posted that it was all a joke, he had been bored at work and decided to post as a "joke" (ha, ha, ha). I had to apologize to Amanda for bothering her and I just let loose on the A&M Board. I don't believe the idiot has posted much since then, LOL.
