In season five - The Case of the Captain's Cons, Miss Allison Hayes played an interesting character, DR MATTH.

But her BEST episode of Perry Mason is the season opener for season SIX - The Case of the Bogus Books!

If you get Season Six, don't forget to watch for her.....  the episode also features Adam West and H.M. Tenant!

"Captain's Cons" must be in the second half of the season since that episode isn't among the ones in this first volume. But thanks for the tip. I'll be on the lookout for her if either of those two volumes come my way for review.

Good morning!

No walk this morning. I had to mow the side part of my back yard. At some point this coming week, I'll get to the back yard. The weeds are on the march back there, and nothing seems to kill them.

Happy Easter!

I made a pan of brownies for myself to observe the "candy" part of the holiday. Honestly, the prices on store bought candy are SO high now that it's just a complete turnoff.

CBS has a new episode line-up for tonight, but the BROTHERS & SISTERS episode tonight is a rerun. So, it's good I've got all of these things to watch since there's nothing on TV tonight for me.

I understand the ABC showing of THE TEN COMMANDMENTS last night WAS in HD. (It has never been prior to last night.) Sorry I missed it. I hope Paramount is moving full speed ahead to get it released on Blu-ray if there is now an HD master available.

A question for the Foodies: (It is not a joke or riddle.)

What cut of meat do you get if you have the butcher slice a standing rib roast?

Happy Easter.

I will spend most of the day celebrating by doing some returns for people whose names sound like they might be Jewish.

Otherwise, a very small and informal holiday meal, but my mind will be on getting back to the taxes later tonight - much that must be done to gather the questions to call clients Monday morning.

Just 11 more days, and I know i'll miss it when the season is over, even though it feels like I'm on auto-pilot now.

IIRC they will sign them in front of you but it's one to a customer.

Re the CD signing:  I went to the signing of "Little Women" with Sutton Foster a few years ago (not exactly in A Little Night Music's league, I know).   This is what happened:  You handed your CD booklet to someone to take to the cast when you first entered the theatre.  You didn't necessarily get the same booklet back!  Some people are not as particular as others when it comes to fingerprints, etc., so there were a few complaints!

here's an easy answer from whatscookingamerica.net:

The term "standing" means the bones are included in the roast, thus the roast can stand by itself. A rib roast comprises of seven ribs starting from the shoulder (chuck) down the back to the loin.

A joyous Easter to all who observe. A joyous day for the all.

My guest list for dinner tonight is up in the air, wavering from five to eight. We'll still have the goose and a pork roast, at least one type of potatoes, asparagus, home-grown salad, Jacques Pepin's mother's version of deviled eggs, and plenty o' wine. Don't know what someone is bringing for dessert, but I'm off to get the rest of the house cleaned before this afternoon.

And one comment on BK's apt criticism of the Robbins' documentary: Why is it that nobody seems to be able to film dance nowadays. Have people forgotten how to let the camera sit while the performers perform? I hated this in "Finian's Rainbow," the movie, long before MTV came about and I still find it irritating.

So, is it some cut that would be a steak?

Happy Easter to y'all!

When I first saw today's title, I at first though it read "FIVE CLICKS EASTER".

I am between services right now on a very stressful morning.

I awoke this morning to discover Betsy had left the garage door open and the garage light on, evidently from when her parents left last night.  I soon realized our cars had been broken into.  My cell phone, a work name badge and perhaps a garage door opener to the new house are all missing.   My car was in total disarray, which was the most disheartening thing.

There is a second interpretation of the question - and the answer would be "Rib-eye Steak"; if the bone is left in it is often called a "Cowboy Rib-rye; with the bone removed, they can become "Delmonico Steak".

I often have the butcher slice rib roasts into steaks (when the roasts are on sale the result is much cheaper than buying the steaks).

My Mom is feeling a bit under the weather today, so my family's Easter plans are out the window.  I might go out for a drive and check out the beautiful weather.  And I'd also like to sit and watch something like WONDERFUL TOWN (the televised Roz Russell version from the 50s.)

I am back from hearing vocal music and piano music by Victor Herbert, mostly in manuscript, that has not been heard in probably 80-100 years. Some of it is absolutely, breathtakingly beautiful, and some simply a lot of fun. I'm sure a lot of the songs - "I'm Going In The movies"  and "The Kid is clever," for example - were clearly rejects from shows and revues, but they are absolutely delghtful. One published piece of German lied, "Du ahnst es nicht" is as romantic and voluptuous as Wagner's Wesendonck-Lieder. We're also going to record the two cut songs from BABES IN TOYLAND that I discovered in the Herbert Collection.
