Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a little pepper on it, and now it is time for you to post until the peppered cows come home.

Okay.....I will hold all reservation plans until further notice from MR BK.

BUT, I am still seeing the show tomorrow.  If it is not entertaining - I might save you a trip....although meeting the gang would be most excellent.

Best thing about the internet....

Well, as DR GEORGE said...HHW.

And:

EBAY
and finding other fans of Frances Farmer and Allison Hayes

And reconnecting with some good people.  And using it to publicize the theater and the store.

DR Ginny - Thanks for the travel vibes.  It was a relatively painless trip down to Richmond, if just a wee bit chilly since the bus's heater didn't seem to want to kick back in after being in A/C mode for the past few days.  ...But I'm here.

And now, I think I'm going to take a very brief nap, and then I'll be heading over to Sidewalk Cafe to have brunch, but, most importantly, to see Edwina.  And then I want to check out the Ukrop's in Carytown.  I believe this is the last weekend of Ukrop's "existence" before they officially become part of the Martin's chain of grocery stores.  And then I have a brief rehearsal with the singer I'm playing for next week.  And then... ???

TOD:

What do I like best about computers?

As a writer, if I want to change something in my manuscript, I don't have to re-type pages and pages to get the alteration to seamlessly fit in.  I just click my mouse.

What do I like least about computers?

When it doesn't work like it's supposed to do.

What do I like most about the Internet?

Making new friends, keeping in touch with old friends and being able to find the answer to almost anything I want to know within seconds.

What do I like least about the Internet?

Good morning!

Much chillier this morning, so the walk was very brisk but it was delightfully cool and I enjoyed it. Another day of this coolness, and then it starts to heat back up again. A fair tradeoff.

TOD:

I never enjoyed writing more than when I started writing using a computer and word processor. If I had had this marvelous tool when I was in college writing all of those term papers with footnotes at the bottom of the pages, they would have seemed so much easier to accomplish. Folks who had to "typeset" all those term papers by hand (and with professors who insisted on footnotes instead of endnotes) have no idea what a massive headache doing those papers were way back when.

And writing reviews now is also so much more pleasurable with the internet always handy to check facts, etc.

The internet has also been a boon for keeping in touch with friends and in being able to buy almost anything anyone wants with the click of a mouse button.

More TOD:

The most disturbing aspect of computers and particularly the internet is that always uneasy feeling that someone can peep into your personal life and information without your knowing it. And the scam artists out there whose sole resosn for living is to find some way to defraud innocent peoplemakes it a mine field even when one is dealing with legitimate businesses.

I got an e-mail from Disney alerting me that the Blu-rays of ARMAGEDDON and TOMBSTONE are in the mail. They are scheduled to arrive mid-week, but they don't come out until the 27th so that's plenty of lead time.

I also see that two "monumental masterpieces" of cinema art are scheduled for release in the coming months, and it will fall on me to review them more than likely: ELECKTRA and SHOWGIRLS. Oy!

Looking forward to my day off today. I'm planning on watching the Blu-ray of THE NEGOTIATOR at some point (it arrived in the mail on Thursday).

I still have GRAN TORINO on the DVR, and I'll watch Thursday night's PROJECT RUNWAY while I eat lunch today.

Tonight on HBO-HD is a movie I've been wanting to see: I LOVE YOU, MAN. I like Paul Rudd and Jason Segal, so their bromance should be good for some laughs.

TOD:

The best thing about computers and the internet: The amazing amount of information that is at one's fingertips; being able to locate old friends and make new ones; Ebay; HHW; all the Bollywood blogs; makes shopping so much easier!

The worst things: Like DR DRuxy said, when the computer doesn't work right, that is such a drag!

I have finished my morning surf earlier than expected, so I'm going to finish up some housekeeping chores in the office and then head down to get a jump start on a fun day of leisure viewing.

Good morning, all! Last night my allergies were so bad I could not sleep so I took some Nyquil. I'll blame it for my sleeping so late this morning. I was supposed to attend the Castrecl Encores! luncheon today, but I just canceled because I cannot clear my sinuses and throat of all the gunk in the air.  I would rather stay inside and lie around. I swear, the older I get, the worse the allergies get.

So, I do have some Montgomery & Stone work to finish up the edits, some OZ work on the Chorus of Poppies, and several poorly working allergy meds to take to function.

Everyone's covering my thoughts on the pros and cons of a computer so I'll abstain.

Good morning.

TOD:
Best things about the Internet: Being able to reconnect with old friends and make new friends. Also, having all that information at your fingertips (and most of it is accurate).

Least things I like about the Internet are spam and misinformation. I used to read a couple of political websites, but the lies and misleading stories and uncorroborated material were all a bit too much for this journalist.

Computers: Love the ease of using one, hate the IT mentality you need to use one even more efficiently.

While there may be tons of information at one's fingertips on the Internet, so much of it is incorrect (imdb anyone) and shoddy, that one never knows what one is getting.

I cannot imagine what writing ten books would have been like on a conventional typewriter - in fact, I can pretty much say I probably would have given up after book one and am not sure I would have even started book one.  The ability to move things around with a click, to easily save different versions, to edit and correct in seconds - for me, the computer and word processing itself has been amazing.
