DR Jennifer - In regards to the reviews of "SATC2"... Since it sounds like you were going to see the movie regardless - and since it seems that you would like it anyway - why even bother reading the reviews?

*And, conversely, would you want to read and trust a review by someone who was predisposed to LOVE the movie.

It's hard to explain. But what DR Jane wrote sort of expresses how i feel.  Yes I would go to see SATC2 regardless of what that guy wrote.  But I like seeing what other people think. And it really really bugged me to see it get a bomb rating.  I guess what bugged me most is so many people love the series and the first movie and for them to let someone who hated both do the reviewing.  It just left a bad taste in my mouth.

RE: your second question.  I"m not crazy about people who love everything or who think not so good things are great.  But if it was a fan of the series and the first movie who really wrote a well thought out review then yes it would make me very happy! :)

Larry, could the mystery word be "calling"?

That's a very good choice! I was thinking of using "fancy" and admitting in the recording notes and on the new copy that the word was conjectural, but I think your lyric choice is better. Thank you.

What happened to my cicada?

A friend gave me some home made Miso.  (He learned how to make it when he lived in Japan)  Anyone have good recipes?  He suggested as a marinade

Oh good grief!  It's 90 degrees. No wonder I got so overheated when I was mowing the yard.   I took a couple breaks and drank water, but still had to stop when I got overheated.   I had to get it done, though, it was WAY too long.  It looks much better even though it's not done.  I'll finish early in the morning

DR TCB re: the Sex & The City 2 movie gettting a bomb rating.

I can only speak for myself. And it makes me feel bad/sad/mad when a movie i'm looking forward to seeing gets a bomb rating.  But it makes me even more upset when they let someone review it who knows they will hate it before even going in. It just makes me wonder why bother making that person sit through it. And why make me read it.

But there is the catch DR Jennifer, I would not have read it, or at least stopped reading it once I knew the reviewer was destined not to like it.  I know the feeling of looking forward to the release of a movie only to read bad reviews.

Glad to hear i'm not the only one who feels this way.

The thing is if the movie was terrible then i wouldn't mind so much. Because i'd feel like this guy did me a favor by letting me know how bad it is. But I would have rather that they had gotten somebody in the demographic and specified that grumpy old men might not like it! ;)

Well, to be honest, this film has gotten terrible reviews from most major critics - on Rotten Tomatoes it is at an astonishing 9%, which is as low as it gets there.  That, of course, doesn't mean the film won't be enjoyable to folks.

I decided rather than go to any of my usual haunts today, I'd make a batch o' tuna pasta salad, and that's exactly what I have done.  It is chilling now.  I'm listening to the third CD o' the day, and then when the tuna pasta salad is at my desired temperature, then I'll watch a motion picture.  In the meantime, I'll probably do an errand to three and call to see if there are any packages and/or mail.

It's 90 here now, too. I did my outside work earlier.

My outside work consisted of going to the Rio Salado to water the milkweed plants we planted earlier. They need some water now that summer is here. I forgot to take my binoculars.

Cillaliz, we also have "weed police." We haven't been cited again since the neighbor dumped that dirt in the alley behind our fence. I check daily, and when he dumped another load, we moved it right away.

Have you ever had the tuna pasta salad, Laura?  Can't remember if you ever made it to one of our Christmas Eve Dos.

Yes, I came to a Christmas Do. I don't think I had the tuna pasta salad. I really enjoyed your spaghetti, though.

Tuna, pasta (macaroni noodles), red onion, mayo.  Simple, effortless, and very yummilicious.

Back from my errands.  The temp here is only 80, but with the humidity it feels like mid-90s  :P

May I order some tuna pasta salad - hold the onions?

Our family had some bad news yesterday. My nephew Daniel (my younger brother Dan's son) was diagnosed with lymphoma. He had been suffereing from extreme stomach pain and they found he had a blockage in his intestines, which the doctors removed last week. Test revealed cancer.

He is only 25 years old and has two young children. Just so sad, and he is such a good kid.

So, any spare good thoughts, prayers, or vibes would be most welcomed as he begins chemotherapy.

~~~Vibes for DR MBarnum's DN Daniel!!~~~
This is really terrible, but the first thing I thought of when I heard about Gary Coleman is that I feel really sorry for the composers and companies of Avenue Q.
Not so terrible, DR KERRY.
The day after Dorothy Kilgallin died, Barbara Feldon's husband called Mark Goodson and pitched his wife to take her place.
Mark told him it was a bit soon to consider a permanent replacement.
