Actually I think the seminar will be quite interesting.  We're taking a walking tour and will see and discuss various damage to old buildings and how to repair it.  My mom owns my brother's office building.  It's a very old building and needs work on the brick etc.  I'll be able to give the advice....of course they won't take advice from me, but that won't stop me from giving it ;)

Yesterday I told a judge I wasn't doing many criminal cases anymore....today I had calls about 3-4 new criminal cases and have been retained on 2 of them.  Funny how that works.

I'm very pleased for you.  LOL-I guess you had better read all about the position and be prepared. ;)

Thanks, Jane!  And yes, I hope to be more prepared.  I'll talk with my supervisor (who's leaving and who's job I applied for) to get more insight into it all.

My new neighbor wants to build a garage in a place where there really isn't room for a garage.  He'll probably have to get a variance to do it. Tonight I was looking out and if he does it my view will be totally cut off, which in my opinion will effect my property value. I'm going to find out if he's applied for the permit and variance yet and what I have to do to object.  One other neighbor is planning to object to a variance. I think i will too.  He says it will be tasteful, but he's got the place looking pretty junky with the way he parks cars willy nilly in the grass etc.

Oh no.  So many times a person applies and gets approval for something moderate & tasteful & and then builds whatever.

I came home for lunch today and he was standing outside, so I told him I'd been thinking about it and if he built the garage where he told me he was going to that it would ruin my view and that my view added value to my property so he would be reducing the value of my property. So, if he needed a variance to do it, I would object to the granting of a variance.   He went on about how creative they would be and it wouldn't interfere with my view.  I told him it would have to be underground before it wouldn't ruin my view.  He said he'd show me the plans if and when he gets to that point.    He's had both neighbors tell him they will object now.  He said it isn't part of this project.  I'm glad I spoke my mind

Good for you for stating your position.  I'm sure you were nice about it.  I laughed when you said the garage needed to be underground. :)   What is "this project"?

Back from a two and a half mile jog and wondering how we're still on page five.  Get me off this damn page.  I think I can finally sit on my couch like so much fish and relax.  Don't know if I'm in the mood for a movie or not, but there's plenty to choose from.

Greeting from Ohio!  Thanks to DRs Elmore, George, Laura, Jane, and MBarnum for the travel vibes.  They worked like a charm - smooth car rental return, smooth flight, smooth car pick-up at CVG, smooth drive home.

OK, major geekfest alert.  I am very excited as today in the mail I got a promo copy of the Complete Works of J.S. Bach.  This is a stupendous undertaking (Elmore at least probably knows about, maybe some others), and consists of 172 CDs plus various other items, all in a huge boxed set.  I begin listening momentarily.
Sounds wonderful.

I think he comment "creative" is the key word here.  I'm not sure I would trust someone who put a purple roof on their house. ;D  For your sake I hope it looks better than it sounds.

DR Jane re: your flu shot

Is it a bit early or are they starting many places in the US this early?

They have been giving them for awhile now.  I think anytime around back to school time is good.  I know DR Laura got hers.  Has anyone else?  This year it will protect against three different flu viruses, including H1N1.

I don't think they usually start them here till nov/dec. There definitely has been no mention of them yet.  Although last year was particularly crazy with everyone getting the swine flu.

Well, there's one good thing about getting to work earlier (which I've been doing since, you know, I'm applying for a new job) is that I get to leave earlier.  Now if I would also go to bed earlier, it'd all balance out.

;)

Until later!

I've been watching GET HIM TO THE GREEK to prepare for the review I must get out by tomorrow.  I must say, against all odds, I'm loving it.  I just laughed out loud during the Today Show segment with Meredith Veira (sp?) and Paul Krugman.  Paul Krugman!!

From the Center for Disease Control:
Yearly flu vaccination should begin in September or as soon as vaccine is available and continue throughout the influenza season, into December, January, and beyond. This is because the timing and duration of influenza seasons vary. While influenza outbreaks can happen as early as October, most of the time influenza activity peaks in January or later.

More interview vibes for DR GRORGE.

THANKS JNAND!!

I take it that Jnand is the middle-eastern spelling of his name?

Read "deeper", Missy Karen.  See what inspired the spelling!  :D

I just assumed that Grorge was the Viking or possibly Celtic spelling for DR George ...

(how's that for a cover story and I'm sticking to it, DR ROONIK -- possibly Polish for Ronnie --why I oughta...where's my ACME anvil)
