About time to head down to the Loesser office. I've had a profitabe morning doing various tidy-up jobs about the apartment. I'm having a little lunch and heading out.

There's something oddly symbiotic here....Moore or Loesser!

Good deal squared department:  Barnes and Noble is having a 50% off Criterion sale, good on everything.  Plus, if you join ebates.com (free), and enter B&N through their "portal," you get an additional 8% cash back.  Cool beans.

Are you sure that ebates is free, DR JMK?  I once joined something like that after a DeepDiscount order and found that I was being charged 9.99 a month (I had to make a phone call to cancel this membership and get reimbursed.)

Yes, sir, completely free.

Where is the logic behind a studio (and their PR firm) not "fulfilling" titles for the site that gives them their largest readership?  I truly do not get it.  They will provide screeners to the Podunk Times, with both of its readers, but not to blu-ray.com.  Odd, odd, odd.

The Deep Discount thing is different, Dan.  I avoid those "offers" like the plague.

Well, I got my brief written and filed, so now I'm just waiting for my 1:00 PM appointment to show up.  Then I'm taking the rest of the afternoon off.  I'm going to clean clean clean.....which seems pointless since the cat will come home smelling of sulfur and they whole house will smell of sulfur....but my allergies are bugging me and I think some of it is the god awful little lady beetles, so I'm going to dust and vacuum the house, wash the bedding and then go pick up Ricky.

Is the Blu-ray.com track record a positive one for their releases?

Since Sherlock was bathed yesterday I did not take him to the hiking trails.  We had a lovely walk around the beautiful park in town and enjoyed the autumn colors.

If you mean, can we guarantee them a good review, of course not (though in the case of this particular studio, almost all of their releases have gotten great reviews).  If you mean, do we deliver in terms of readership and, more importantly (at least for the studios), sales, absolutely.  We are the "900 lb. gorilla" in terms of internet sites for hi-def content, there's simply no comparison in terms of either readership or revenue generated.

Still on South Padre Island for some fun in the sun. This morning we took a birding trip off the coast and ended up seeing dozens of dolphins cavorting in the water. They were splashing around and having a great time. Unfortunately, none of my photos is the perfect shot that I wanted, but they were so beautiful to see that it didn't really matter.

TOD: Breakfast on Christmas morning has become a big deal the last few years. Last year, it was eggs sardou, with the artichoke heart and the bearnaise sauce and the whole shebang. Another year it was egg nog French toast. But the biggie was the year I bought a black truffle. I shave the truffle into a jar with whole eggs about a week before Christmas. The truffle aroma permeates the shell and the egg itself, so it's incredibly strong. You chop up some of the truffle to scramble with the eggs and crown it all with a drizzle of more truffle oil. It's a Spanish/Catalan dish, if I remember correctly and it's divoon with Champagne. Exceedingly rich.

We got see some birds, too, today, including a roseatte spoonbill, some herons, pelicans, ibis, grebes, osprey, plovers, terns, almost everything except for the red ducks that are native to the area and don't seem to migrate anywhere else.

I came home early.  I'm beginning to thing it really is my allergies acting up.  I had the windows open all day yesterday.  I turned the air conditioning on when I got home to see what that would do and lo and behold I can breathe better.  So i took a claritin andam relaxing.  Luckily there isn't much going on at the office this week.  Lots to do, but not scheduled things, so it's a good time to take a little extrat time off.

I wondered where you were.  I'm about to make the red velvet cake.  I hope it works in the bundt pan.  I hope the weather holds out and I don't have to cancel, or attempt to move the gathering to another house.

As usual for a Monday, cardiac rehab was strenuous today, especially since they increased my incline to 1.0 and the time change caused my favorite treadmill now to be in the sun.  Guess I'll have to move away from the corner windows for the rest of my program.  Two weeks from today is my last - then I'm on my own!

My favourite breakfasts were those at one or two in the morning, usually after a show, with a bunch of other actors.  Perhaps the best breakfast I ever had was in York at a fifteenth century pub/inn where we had spent the night...a full English breakfast of eggs, bangers, bacon, fried toast, baked beans (it also had tomatoes and mushrooms in which I do not indulge).  When all else fails, a great breakfast can consist of a Scotch egg.

BK, Beulah Bondi IS my favourite character actress.

DR Jane - Oh! I meant to comment on this the other day. The red velvet cake should work in the Bundt pan, but if it doesn't, well, it doesn't.  It varies from recipe to recipe.  For a "successful" Bundt cake, the batter usually has to have to some "structure" to it.  In other words, if it's a very thin batter, it might not rise enough to fill the pan - and bake properly.  However, if your batter is "spoonable", then things should turn out all right.

Yesterday, we had a 3-hour recording session and got three more of the Victor Herbert piano pieces recorded; the two bitchiest, the unpublished scherzo and "Mountain Brook," are off our backs, and the only solo left to record is the well-known "Pan Americana." On Thursday we have a full day with Rebecca Luker, who will record several songs including two of Herbert's most famous, "Kiss Me Again" and "Indian Summer." At 3:30 she will be joined by a chorus of six men, including our E&T DRs Jason and DAW and Zak the naked Hercules, to record "Till the Right One comes Along," which I would swear is the original operetta number parodied in the title song from "Little Mary sunshine" (why isn't this silly show done more often?).

I think it is because you have to have a director who really gets the show and is able to convey that to the cast.  Otherwise, the show can be everyone's worst nightmare.

Good movie!

I enjoyed the first IMPROMP movie, but didn't care for the sequel.

LOL! This is one of my favorite films; it's very funny and contans possibly the best performance by Bernadette Peters as an actress. Watching Judy Davis chase Hugh Grant is like watching a shark chase a minnow.

There's also a porn movie with this title, I hear

Good Lord!  I hope someone is getting royalties off the cover of this DVD!
