Last night, I finished watching BASIL DEARDEN'S LONDON UNDERGROUND, the new 4-movie set from Criterion.

Good writing, direction and fine performances from actors who knew how to speak in a way that the audience could understand what they were saying.  [Is that a lost art?]

The only problem with the movies is that they are fifty years or more old, and they deal with issues like racism and homophobia in ways that are very outdated in today's world.

That aside, all four movies employ good storytelling, are very entertaining and well worth a look.

For the record, they are SAPPHIRE, THE LEAGUE OF GENTLEMEN, VICTIM and ALL NIGHT LONG.

Would that be SAPPHIRE by Push the author of PRECIOUS?

No.  It's a British murder mystery.

Very sad.  I thought she was terrific.

Vibes for TCB. I feel your pain. I, too, had some sort of stomach bug yesterday and thankfully it has passed.

KevinH, I'm envious. I love those trips to New York where you cram in as many shows as you can. I saw Hugh Panero on one such trip, but it was in "Side Show."

It's back on for a minute...ok,  So, I went to hook up the new computer today and realized it didn't have the right sort of printer port.  The old kind.  Anyway, Edith's computer has to hook into printer copier etc that we have.  It's an upscale one that I got used a few years ago, but it's still working and does everything we need. SO, I returned the computer and now have to do some shopping and see whether it's better to get a computer made with the port or to get a nice laser printer and use the copier as a stand  alone copier.

Oh bother

Our internet woes began after setting up our new wireless connection box.  Keith has ordered a new one from Quest, our phone carrier, that should be compatible with our Quest DSL box.

This is Cableone.  I've called them and they have many reports and are out repairing.  Actually I'm wondering if they are upgrading, when it comes on it's a lot faster.  Maybe that's just because no one else is on it right at the moment

I am back from Toyland! I've had some steamed broccoli with olive oil and lemon and I'm going to have some cauliflower as well. Edits went well at Toyland, and I'm about to clean off my desk for the tax work.

DR KevinH, I'm glad you had a good time with Ben and Anthony. Isn't their tree amazing? It's lik going to visit Santa's elves. Thanks for the good news about Sara Jean. I have to get a ticket and see her. I love her voice.

I should have known I was going the wrong way when Sherlock refused to follow me.

I've been exploring a fairly new trail where I usually hike.  Yesterday I went up farther than I've previously gone and the reason I was upset I left my camera at home.  On the way back down I past the right turn I had wanted to take which would have circled around & avoided the steep section straight down.  Not realizing I had missed it I turned right onto what I thought was the trail.  It was the trail, the same section I began at & I should have turned left to eventually leave the trails.  Lazy boy doesn't not like to repeat the same sections of a trail especially if he knows I will eventually turn around.  While I hiked up the wrong way he sat and waited for me. ;D

Hi, TCB!  Hope you're feeling well today.

Hi Kevin!  Enjoy New York.  I am not very good today.  Food poisoning or stomach flu; but as they say, "This too will pass."

After breakfast (and the real reason for the road trip), we got back into the car and headed back south to Ikea.  We were there for a little over an hour and my sister got three shelf units.

Guess what I'll be doing today. :P

;D

The drinks are all very pretty.

My niece said that they do this for all their coffee drinks and I think she said that they're always different.

Susannah York has died at the age of 72.
Loved her version of "Jane Eyre" with George C. Scott.

OK, so the five things they hated are sad indeed:

From BroadwayWorld.com:

Well, the major critics haven't gone in (yet) but MTV has now posted their review of SPIDER-MAN: Turn Off the Dark, in two parts. The first, entitled "Five Things We Liked" includes the Set Design, The Costumes, The Aerial Work, It's Family Friendly and 'Splash Page' the show's opening number.

Part Two is "Five Things We Hated" and that list included The Story, The Acting, The Music, The Changes and The Difficulties.
