Good morning, all! I slept quite poorly last night and I'm feeling a bit puny today. Around 5am I had to deal with several minutes of noise, footsteps and knocks from the tenant above me. It was also a night of bizarre dreams, although I only remember the last one: I was teaching a psychology class and Kim Criswell was one of my students. Oy! During the dream, the wonderful and evocative song "The Banks of the Wabash" was mentioned, so now it's stck in my head. I've been listening to Joan Morris singing it this morning and feeling a bit weepy. She brings out all the sentiment and art in a fin de siecle song.

I will shortly head off to Toyland, where my day is centered. Folllowing that, I've got an appointment to see my doctor. This is a part of the last renewal of my various prescriptions.

Here at the airport.  Boarding in about forty minutes or so.  It was a little drizzly when we left but it seems to have stopped now, which is good.

I always felt that as beautiful as the English lyrics for I Will Wait For You they diluted the meaning of the French lyrics which I felt were more bittersweet. English is more optimistic

Thanks so much to Ginny, George, John G, TCB, Laura and vixmom for watching the song on that greeting card site yesterday.

I don't know how that site found the song (maybe my collaborator on the song sent it to them, i haven't been in touch with him in a few months), and it doesn't mean any money, but money's not what it's about, it's getting the songs heard.

I have written 1,200 words on my 2,000-word paper, What Is an Intellectual? (I did not choose the topic). And I don't like much of anything in the paper except for the Sondheim quote:

They both got right to bed
When they feel intellectual.

I think I will eventually have to delete it for the sake of the paper. Hopefully I will get 2,000 words down today and can then start rewriting it into something I can turn in.

If any of you have something to add to this mind-expanding piece (of what, I don't know), please post.
