I am not sure how much any of the HHWers are keeping up with the disaster in Japan, but this video really shows the force of the tsunami. It just obliterates this city block.

From what I have heard, there was only about 20 minutes or so between the time the earthquake hit and that tsunami hit, in some areas. Certainly explains the large loss of life.

Did the tsunami alarms go off immediately?  I read mixed bits on that.

So anyway.....I was mistaken....again.

BOMBSHELL on TCM right now is an MGM picture......I was thinking of Platinum Blonde, a Columbia picture with Jean Harlow the year before.

I'm glad I'm not a fan of Family Guy or I would have to stop watching it. ::)

Family Guywriter Alec Sulkin tweeted that feeling better about the quake was just a matter of Googling "Pearl Harbor death toll." Almost 2,500 died in that 1941 attack; more than 10,000 are feared dead in Japan.

I don't think you can blame an entire television production company based on one idiot writer.  That is like blaming the entire Republican Party based on the comments of Glenn Beck.

Richard and I did some errands together this afternoon and came home to find a very tired Rob napping on the living room couch.  He is completing his Firefighter 1 training this week along with the 4th (out of 5) quarters of paramedic training.  He's ready for spring break.

After reading Sulkin, and other's, comments Gilbert Gottfried's stupid joke that got him fired isn't so bad.  But then I only read the one of tasteless joke he tweeted,  "They don't go to the beach. The beach comes to them."

I like almost all the songs in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS

I still remember how much I loved the original production downtown and the score! I like some Menken, but I really loved LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS.

The day after the Challenger exploded, they were making Christa McAuliffe jokes, tastless but they still made me laugh, just as "They don't go to the beach. The beach comes to them" makes me chuckle. Yes, I know it's sick, but I think humor is a way of warding off bad vibes.

LOL elmore.  Once I read what he said I was surprised he was fired for it.  I think the Pearl Harbor joke & taking pleasure from their suffering is beyond a funny tasteless joke.  Possibly the rest of Gottfried's joke were over the line.

DR Samantha starred in a local production.  She was really good

That isn't a joke. It's petty and cruel.

I agree and just to be clear I was commenting on black/dark humor in general

Tonight is another Jean Harlow night on TCM.  First we see 20 year old Jean in a very mediocre performance in PUBLIC ENEMY - although it has James Cagney and Mae Clarke to compensate for it.

Then we get TWO glorious Jean pictures - BLONDE BOMBSHELL (from Columbia - made because Jean's gangster boyfriend Abner "Longy" Zwillman made Columbia boss Harry Cohn a loan of $500,000.)

And the glorious LIBELED LADY - another top notch comedy, this time from MGM - with Jean wearing the lovely wedding dress she would be buried in a few years hence.
I love "Libeled Lady." One of my favorite screwball comedies.

I love almost anything by Alan Menken, except the gospel music (Hercules, Sister Act), maybe it's my feeling on that genre to begin with, I don't know.

The song added to "Beauty and the Beast" - "A Change In Me" is a great song.  Also on the list are:

Little Shop score
Happy Working Song
Colors of the Wind (probably my fave)
Be Our Guest
Prince Ali

and the list can go on.

In other news, I've been trying to dig up some piano recordings of 2 pianos, 8 hands.  I played in a quartet in high school and now I've been trying to find some of the recordings of some of the pieces we played.  I've been successful a little, but some are out of print or haven't been recorded.  A plan someday is to record them myself using the marvel of technology.  Someday, when I have time....

Good Evening!

Well... I did a bit more packing, as well as some tidying up. I found myself feeling "rushed" and flustered, so I took a deep breath and slowed down. The moving taxi won't be here until 2:00, so I have plenty of time to finish up whatever I have to finish up. -Now I'm just hoping that the rain isn't too bad tomorrow afternoon while I'm loading the boxes into the truck. Thankfully, there's a covered loading dock at the storage facility.

And speaking of moving...

Laters...

Can you send that truck down to Toyland when you are finished?

Well, if I get the same driver tomorrow that I had today, I'm pretty sure he'd take the detour. ;)
