Well, you've read the notes, the notes were nutty and had some clusters, and now it is time for you to post until the nutty cows come home.

I do not think I have to attend rehearsal this evening since they are working on music only.  And I may be off tomorrow night as well because I am not in Scene Four.  We shall see.

Monday morning greetings!  It's cold and gloomy here in SW Ohio today.  I'm waiting for an email that will tell me whether or not I have to drive to Cleveland on Wednesday for a Thursday morning meeting - wouldn't mind at all if the meeting were postponed...

Good morning, all! I am sleeping way too much these days.

Today I have to hit the Lincoln Center NYPL Music Collection looking for a song "Blarney Is Our Birthright." I've also got a couple of theatre scrapbooks to call up and see what they tell me about this number.

That's my day. I have some writing as well.

DR Laura, here's the review for WONDERLAND from Talkin Broadway:
http://www.talkinbroadway.com/world/Wonderland.html

The production photos say plenty. I find them as repellant as the subway posters that convinced me, as a huge Lewis Carroll fan, that I would hate this production. The last successful stage production of the Carroll books was the 1940s revival of the Eva Le Gallienne-Florida Friebus adaptation starring Bambi Lynn as Alice. A recording was made of a lot of the Richard Addinsell score. Florida Friebus' major claim to fame is playing one of the aunts of Dobie Gillis in the tv series.

I saw the last revival of the LeGallienne-Friebus version when it was revived at the ANTA around 1980. I had a good time and LeGallienne as the Red Queen was wonderful. She must have been around 80 years old and she actually flew in the production. And with a lot of grace, I might add.

Wonderland sounds awful.  But it's sounded awful from the moment I first read about it.

I really would like to see a show while I'm in NY, but the sad joke is I will only be able to see one show and it's going to be Baby, It's You because I promised Barry I would.

Barry is great in the show - the show is the problem, and I've seen it and from all accounts it really hasn't changed at all.  But apparently baby boomers go and love that they're hearing oldies and get real excited.  I have never understood this phenomenon, especially when it's attached to poorly done shows.  Go play a record, it's a lot cheaper than seeing a B'way show.

RE: the quote function not working.

I've always had the problem where sometimes it shows blank on the first try. But it has always worked for me if i try it again.

I believe my friend Alan Bunting did the CD remastering of the Addinsell Alice score, and it's quite wonderful.  It's lying around here somewhere.

DR ELMORE I think Florida played Dobie's mother in the series.

Alan also did incredible work cleaning up and rereleasing a lot of the early Percy Faith sides for Decca, before he had joined Columbia.

Looking forward to a simple, conservative (that is, non-Orthodox) seder tonight!

I still remember asking for seconds and thirds of charoset when my fourth grade class held a Seder meal. -And, yes, it was held a private, Catholic school.
