We moved to Seattle just a couple of days before my 11th birthday and I asked if we could have my birthday dinner at the Space Needle restaurant.  A very unexpected surprise came when my "rich" Uncle from New York showed up out of the blue with a business partner of his, as they were doing some sort of real estate deal in Seattle.  They came with us, and the business partner told me he had a son my age and wanted me to pick out stuff at the gift shop for his boy.  Not being quite *that* naive, I raided the gift shop and took home quite a haul.  I even managed to feign surprise when he gave it all to me.  ;)

In 1963, for my sister's 16th birthday, my mom and grandmother took my sister and me to the Space Needle for her birthday lunch.  Hoping for a possible candle on a dish of ice cream for my sister; my mom told the host that it was my sister's birthday.  At the end of lunch, the waitress brought a cake with lit sparklers on top, the manager of the place rolled a big Hurdy Gurdy over to the table, and the entire waitstaff gathered around to sing Happy Birthday to me sister.  I thought my sister was going to die of embarrassment.  Fortunately the windows of the Space Needle do not open.

Rather than fill up another page with my ramblings (since I am here alone), perhaps I should just sign out.

DR Cillaliz, do the cats sleep in your room? Is that why they keep waking you? Or could you just close your door?

the cats sleep in my room, on my bed, where ever they want to.  If I shut the door, Ricky will scratch it and scratch it and scratch it...

I've been to dinner at Chin Chin on East 49th with my friend Bruce Pomahac, and many things were discussed and dished, from the conductor frind of Rosie O'Donnell who crashed and burned recently with the Opera Theatre of St Louis production of La Fille du Regiment to a possible job for me. We laughed a great deal and had a fantastic time. I'm now rather tipsy and ready to fall over.

Last night I started watching the BBC version of TESS OF THE D'URBERVILLES with Justine Waddell, and I may watch more of that tonight.

I have just been thinking of TESS OF THE D'URBERVILLES, though of Polanski's version, as I watched the new version of JANE EYRE, which I must review tomorrow.  The cinematography and locations are very reminiscent of the Polanski film.

You Bacharach-David LOST HORIZON fans take note:  James Shigeta will be at the Egyptian Theater in L.A. on August 11.  So what if it's a night about Nancy Kwan?  ;)

DR TCB - my home until tomorrow morning is my sister's house.  I've been here since Thursday and could have gone home today, but I wanted to go to church with her and her husband this morning, and take them out for a belated anniversary lunch.  We've had a relaxing Sunday and I'll be all refreshed for my 5-hour drive tomorrow.

Watching a bunch of season 1 episodes of Torchwood.  A very uneven series. I'm up to episode 8
