There's an AP story on the internet right now associated with Hurricane Irene.

Seriously, though, of all the people on the Eastern Seaboard that I might have been worried about in the face of Hurricane Irene, it was NOT Sarah Jessica Parker and her family.

Sometimes, the trite is just so jejune.

Robinson in FENCES at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.  Maybe we should go see it.

You should definitely go see Charlie Robinson in FENCES. I would, if I was down there.

I have always liked him...he was certainly good in ZOMBIES OF SUGAR HILL (1974) and THE BLACK GESTAPO (1975).

LOL I had no idea he did these movies.

Oops, it appears FENCES is finished for the season.  THE AFRICAN COMPANY looks interesting:

In 1820s Manhattan, a homegrown company of free black actors, passionate about creating art out of their own experience, draws packed houses of blacks—and whites. Performing jobs of servitude by day, they rehearse Richard III at night. But when they dare to open at the same time as New York’s premiere theatre opens its own Richard III, there is no room for competition. Based on a real incident, this provocative play is a must-see for Shakespeare and theatre history lovers—and anyone else who cares to ask: Who owns Shakespeare’s words?

DR elmore - Since I can't seem to keep track of exactly when you're flying back with the time difference in your postings... When exactly are you flying back? Friday or Saturday?

I am flying back tomorrow, Friday, on the 10:55am flight from Dublin.

I am back from the festivities, a bit tipsy from all the wine but happy. I doubt I will check in tomorrow before I fly out, so I'll see you all back in Manhattan.

Former DR Rodzinski's latest THE LEADING MEN column is about DR Elmore's close and personal friend, Ron Raines and Danny Burstein, both in the revival of Follies!

MEDICAL UPDATE

Well, today was the day that I finally got to see the neurosurgeon.  Dr. Alex Mohit is an extremely nice and reassuring surgeon; and his Physician's Assistant, Gabrielle, is also terrific.  The nurse who first took me to the exam room, said that I had the greatest team I could have with that doctor and that PA.

First off, the doctor prescribed an AFO brace for my left leg.  He said that it should give me enough support of my foot, that I may not need to use the wheelchair any more.  Instead, I may go back to using the cane.  We shall see after I pick it up tomorrow.

Secondly, the MRI shows the damage to the vertebrae, but Dr. Mohit said that he will need a CAT Scan to see how much nerve damage there might be.  St. Joe's will call me next week to schedule the CAT scan, and as soon as I have that appointment booked; I am supposed to call the surgeon's office and get my second appointment scheduled.

Finally, they were a little surprised that I was trying to keep working, but they filled out the Shared Leave Form saying that I should be working no more than one or two days a week, and no more than four hours at a time.  That would be terrific,  but if nobody donates any leave, I am still in the poor house.  So, that form is being submitted tomorrow, so cross your fingers that someone or several someones have a lot of leave that they would like to donate to me.

That is all the news that is fit to print for the moment.  I am feeling a lot better about everything, at least, for now.  I will keep you all informed; if you all promise to keep me in your prayers.

T.O.D.

When I was fourteen or so, I joined the Columbia Record Club.  I was not very good about mailing back the Monthly Selection Card, so i ended up with a lot of unwanted records.  However, one album that I ordered was played over and over during my teen years.  It was an album that contained THE WARSAW CONCERTO, RHAPSODY IN BLUE, SLAUGHTER ON TENTH AVENUE, and one or two other classical pieces.  It was heaven.

Yes, i believe that someone has to have over 180 hours of sick leave, or 80 hours of annual.  I think!

I received an email my first library ebook was available.  Having no idea how complicated this would be I clicked to check it out.  I then had 30 minutes to download it or it would disappear.  To my surprise it was not a simple act to download as first I had to open an account with adobe & then download it to my computer.  When Keith saw what was involved he said he didn't have the time to do it right then so Craig came to my rescue.

I just finished reading WILD SWANS http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1848.Wild_Swans and need to begin one of my library books.  Since my other two books are still at the library waiting to be picked up I am very grateful to have GIRL IN TRANSLATION waiting for me on my Nook.  I suspect it might be a let down after Swans http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7362158-girl-in-translation

Whoops 176 of sick leave AFTER the leave has been donated.
