Today at work is going to be a day.  We're FINALLY having another interview for our collection manager position (which is my supervisor).  This is the third, count 'em THIRD round of interviews...actually, the second time that the position was announced, they didn't do any live interviews.  I think that they had a couple of phone interviews, but no one was good enough for a live interview.

We'll see what happens!

Well, the interview is over.  And now we wait.

Like George, I was a young'un back then. Certainly too young to see "Midnight Cowboy."

Here's a link to movies from 1969 from which I culled the list below: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_American_films_of_1969

They Shoot Horses, Don't They?
The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie
Sweet Charity
The Reivers
That Cold Day in the Park
The Wild Bunch
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

Thanks for the link, Michael...I'll check it out. :)

So do you like the film of VIVA MAX?

A guilty pleasure.

We're adapting directly from the Jim Lehrer novel, which is simply a pleasure, with no guilt.  :)  :)

Cool!  Can't wait to hear more about it!

Well...that was quick.  I have a new boss.  I don't know when she'll start, but I'd heard (from people who weren't part of the invterviews at all!) that she was already signing contracts.

Well, it's been a summer.  4 shows opened in 4 weeks, another in rehearsal (Nunsense) and one in the process of casting ( Parade) and school starting on Wednesday for me.  Like I said, it's been a summer.

That's all I have.

Lest we forget, 1969 was also the release of Once Upon A Time In The West in the US, and it also gave us the supremely weird and egomaniacal Can Hieronymous Merkin Ever Forget Mercy Humppe And Find True Happiness? starring Anthony Newley.

I thought it was just called "Once Upon A Time In the West" :-)

Many vibes. I haven't heard from my friend Carol tonight. This morning was OK, though she did say she had waterfront property overnight.

Thank you and vibes to your friend Carol.

My friend now has a working generator.  Friends drove over an hour to lend her one and set it up for her.  They have taken her old one to see if they can fix it.  She has electricity & the sump pump is working.

I actually think it's the first show of mine that John and Alyssa have seen. They had a great time. They visited the "schoolhouse" during intermission, and the trombone player talked with John since John has been playing trombone for about two years now. After the show, I took them around the walk-around, and one of the stagehands even gave Alyssa a ride in the surrey!

:D

Thanks for the vibes for my friend.  This is only the beginning for her.  She will need to apply for financial aid, if it is available, from the government.  I hoping at the least friends will be able to remove the trees off of her house.

That's the way our library system works, too.  Once a talking or e-book checked out, it's checked out for the full three weeks and it can't be checked in.  The only thing that can happen (from what I understand) is that if you've put in a request for the title and you get notified that it's now available, but you don't actually check it out, you can choose to not take it and it'll go to the next person.

Today I received a call from the library telling me how to "return" my e-book.  Silly clueless me, I had to do it through adobe, not the library.

Apparently all of our e-books are shared throughout the state, not our local library systems.  Is it the same in Washington?

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Support Your Local Sherrif
Take the Money and Run

All the other movies came years later

TOD:

Well, RING OF BRIGHT WATER is the only 1969 film I can think of that I love...I am sure there must be others, but nothing comes to mind just now.

RING OF BRIGHT WATER was made by the same folks who made BORN FREE, and if you are an animal lover you will love this movie (in case you haven't already seen/heard of it...which I hadn't until I found the DVD for cheap at Shopko one day.)

CACTUS FLOWER
VIVA MAX  (Best after quite a few drinks)
And it took A CHORUS LINE to take worst film of a musical away from PAINT YOUR WAGON

Films like KRAKATOA and MAROONED are underwhelming when projected by  letter boxed 16 MM on a portable movie screen – the unhappy lot of those of us who spent most of the ‘60S at sea.

Actually I spent the last part of 1969 in Bath, ME working on the installation and checkout of a new weapons system for the Navy. She was the third of her class, and the first two had failed their qualifying tests miserably – so the Admiral in charge rolled the dice and sent a junior officer who had a reputation for thinking out side the box to get the new fangled computer based contraption working as advertised. My “out of the box” included putting the ship (and crew) on 24 hour per day operating status (which required a wholesale change in the allocation of ship personnel assignments – and a total rewrite of the ship’s Organization Manual), moving the Captain’s battle station from the Bridge to the inside Combat Information Center (and a complete rewrite of the ships Battle Bill to support a new command structure). When we showed up for the critical qualifying trials, the supervising team wanted the organization put back “the way it’s supposed to be”, the Admiral refused, we went to trials that two other ships had failed miserably; we aced them and my “out of the box screwball way” became “the usual way” for the ships to follow.

(The most fun was taking the ship from the shipyard at Bath ME to her homeport of Long Beach CA (via the Panama Canal).

der Brucer

I believe that Marooned and Krakatoa East of Jave (really east of Java) were up for the Oscar that year. At the Oscar telecast Raquel Welch was presenting and she said. "I'm Raquel Welch and I'm here for Visual Effects and I have two of them"

I've just had a phone call from our DR vixmom: some flooding in the basement,  and they have no power and no ability to use their cell phones. She called me from work.

She sends her love and says they are all fine; dry ice is keeping the refrigerator food cold, and that the damage was far worse with Hurricane Gloria.

I'm off to run errands.

I'm glad she called you & thanks for the update.  Too bad it isn't her office that is without power instead of her house.

Little effect from Irene on my part.  No loss of electricity, no water in the basement and very little debris in the yard.

My office building in Conshohocken is closed due to the entire street it's located on being flooded, but I wouldn't have been able to get out there anyway because the train service out that way has been suspended.  It would be a day off for me but I elected to come into our client's office in Philly to get the comp time.

Mom is doing well in the hospital but she is getting antsy.  My sisters and I don't want them to discharge her until we can see that Mom has no leg swelling or infections to take back to the rehab center.

I'm glad you haven't had any damage.  I need to call my friend in Perkasie.

I just came from the vampire's blood lab, where I was needled once in each arm, but no blood was drawn.  When they offered to try getting it from the back of my hand, I said, "Let's just forget it for today."

:(  Will you wait until after the wedding?  Couldn't they use someplace besides your hand?

DR Dan (the Man), I could tell from the demeanor of today's tech that the result would not be good.  She was very tentative and not at all confident.

I suppose it is awkward to ask for a different tech.
