Well, you've read the notes, the notes held court and jested, and now it is time for you to post until the jesting cows come home.

I'm up early and I'm not sure why.  Maybe I went to sleep too early.

Saw a magnificent play yesterday called SEPTIMUS AND CLARISSA (written by and featuring the great Ellen McLaughlin, best known to some for being the angel in Bway's ANGELS IN AMERICA, but obviously an inventive playwright as well).  It was at Baruch College's lovely building on 26th Street and Lexington.  I'm sorry that i saw it so late in its run, since it's the type of play that made me want to tell people to go, but yesterday was its final day.

Good morning, all! I was wide awae around 5:00am, and then I fell back to sleep and dreamed that Beyonce needed my help on an HHW contest, I was driving around LA snapping photos of hotels, and there was a wedding. Oy!

I'm off to Toyland very shortly to use the paper cutter and trim the many 11x17 photocopies I made in DC to workable size. I will also scan the cut songs from THE RED MILL and send them to various people on the project. When I get back here, I have another long phone call on liner notes for the Victor Herbert album of cello and piano music.

I'll check in from there.

Another day with not enough hours in it. Thankfully, we're getting some rain.

Saw the dvd of BRIDESMAIDS. For some reason i was not expecting it to be so raunchy. I didn't realize it was a woman's THE HANGOVER. I knew it was a comedy with the people from SNL. ANd i knew it wasn't going to be a traditional romantic comedy. It just wasn't exactly what i was expecting. But i still enjoyed it.

Some of the scenes in this movie had me laughing so hard that we had to put the Blu-Ray player on "hold" for several minutes.

Speaking of Basil Rathbone (in BK's notes), I am in the process of signing contracts for Bear Manor Media to reprint my BASIL RATHBONE: His Life and His Films, which has been OOP for over 35 years.

Same here.  Raunchy but very very funny and felt achingly painful through the laughs at times.

I watched this 1986 British Mini-series, LOST EMPIRES, last night.

It stars Colin Firth and, guest starring in a couple of episodes are Laurence Olivier and Patricia Quinn, who was at Ray Court's Chicago show last week.  Nice lady.

If you haven't seen this show, it is well worth your time.

It has been my experience working with kids today.....as in high school age and a bit older.....in theater projects.....the SOME of them....NOT ALL.....but some of them consider what ever they are working on now as just another time waster that they are participating in until their big break comes.....reality tv.....youtube viral video.....or whatever....  And they are BORED with the work and only want the result....and they are certainly not interested in "learning" anything while they work, because they already KNOW everything.

SOME not ALL.  And that's just in Indiana.....I cannot imagine the attitudes in NYC and LA.

JRand, I know I'm generalizing, but that's similar to the attitude I see that drives me nuts.  I see in some (not all) young people a real sense of entitlement - in the sense of they don't seem to think that they have to really work hard to get what they want, they are entitled to have it all immediately.  It drives me crazy. I think that's why I don't take the protests going on very seriously

So...

After I had posted last night - which was after I had gotten back from the ballet - where everything indeed was beautiful - my friends, Yosh and Andy wanted to go to Brandy's. -Well, so did I. So... We went.  And three hours later... ::)

It turned out that my friend Lauren Mufson was the featured entertainer/drink-server last night. Lauren was the "Donna" for most of the time when I was on the Mamma Mia! tour. It was a very nice "reunion". And we all had an amazing time. Last night's pianist, Eric James, always dazzles me with his fingerwork and re-intrepretations and "re-grooves" of some standards.
