I finally received my DVD-R of "Lost Horizon" from Warner Archives in yesterday afternoon's mail.

Nothing would do but that I put it into my BD player and see how it looked.

And that title song sung by Shawn Phillips....why is it that it really moves me?

I agree, Ron, I love the title song.  I wonder why they selected Shawn Phillips to sing the title song.  I think that Bobby Van might have done a nice version of the song - as would Guy Haines.

JRand, The Human Vapor sounds interesting. Very intriguing title. Especially if it's a story of alcoholism. And I doubt that.

No it is not, it is a man who is able to turn himself into a VAPOR - he then robs banks so that he can give the money to a dancer so that she can have a recital.....

LOL!  I thought you wrote that he gave her the money for a rectal!

Not to mention "The Love Machine."  Oh, I guess I just mentioned it, sorry.

A new Broadway musical by Jacqueline Susann?

Someone reviewed POTICHE quite some time ago.

DR JMK. Thanks for the link. I didn't realise you were, who you are! I love your reviews.

You are obviously a man of unquestionable taste and brilliance.

Your check's in the mail.

Or a brown-noser of unequalled proportions.

I am awaiting calls from the Hyundai repair shop and from The Motion Picture Country Home's Elder Care section.

I didn't realize that the Motion Picture County Home also handles car insurance?

Maybe it was for matchmaking.

Had my usual morning cappuccino at the local coffee shop. I used to enjoy chatting to the lovely, tall, blonde Lithuanian girl who managed the place but sadly she has moved on.

My grandfather was from Lithuania.

Good to hear it DR Jane. Lithuanians are lovely people. There are lots of them living round my way. There's also a handy Lithuanian supermarket selling all kinds of interesting food.

Interesting food doesn't always mean good food.

Finished with the garage part of my organizing.  There is now a lot more shelf room, which will enable me to move more house stuff out there.

It is nice to read about Ginny's trip.  I hope we will be getting some photos upon her return.

Unfortunately, Joel Grey was out (actually, the insert in the playbill said that the role of Moonface Martin is " NOW  being played by Robert Creighton," so I guess Mr. Grey is gone for good.  Frankly, I don't know he could have been better than Mr. Creighton.  Sutton Foster was amazing!  How she could still sing after that demanding tap routine in the title song, I can't imagine.  She didn't seem to be out of breath at all.    The other actors were all great too.

After watching her perform ANYTHING GOES on the TODAY SHOW, someone, here, mentioned that it seemed strange that Sutton Foster turned upstage in the middle of the dance break.  I think that was the only chance she had to gasp for breath in the whole number.

I would love to take one of those Christmas time river cruises in Germany.  I guess it is very beautiful with all the decorations and lights.

Cool! Just found out DR JHVW is working on one of the 7 houses in 7 days that Extreme Makeover is doing in Joplin.  That's pretty cool.  I'll have to find out if Joe is working on them too

I made hot buffalo chicken dip, hummus, onion dip, deviled eggs, and cocktail meatballs. With chips, baked pita chips, and celery and carrot sticks for dipping in the aforementioned dips.

I would like to go to Lithuania, Vilna in particular where my family lived.  Actually my grandmother was also from there.  Sadly I only know of one family member who didn't leave prior to the Holocaust that survived.  We only found out about him in the last ten years.  My father never knew he had a cousin in Israel.

Hot Buffalo Chicken Dip - that's the title of my next novel, a story of tempestuous relationships between buffalo and chicken in the deep fried south.

I bet.  I've been to Dublin & London in December and they were both beautiful.  We also went to Williamsburg in December & it was fantastic.

BK:

I just read that Warner Brothers Archive has pulled Lost Horizon from their website and I was wondering if you heard about this and the reason why.

One site said it was because it was released in mono rather the stereo. But I respect your knowledge more than other people who bitch whether a film has an intermission or not.

And I also just finished watching the musical version of Lost Horizon including the fertility dance. The only thing I thought of while watching it was all the barefoot dancers leaping and jumping and hitting the cement ground. I wondered if they did any damage to their feet and legs.

Last time, everyone visited and chatted and snacked before the meeting. I heard good things about it. Tonight, one guy wants to start the meeting exactly on time. So I don't know -- maybe I'll have all that food to bring back home.

Dear BK,

I have been watching old tv shows on hulu.com. Why is it that sometimes an actor is credited at the very end with his character? Like:  And Tom Poston as "George."

Is it a good thing to get last billing? And why with the character name?

Good Evening!

Greetings from Andersonville!

*Or, as some of the locals like to call it: Mandersonville. -Yes, there are some "special interest establishments" in this part of town. Plus a lot of Swedish businesses.
