DR Jose - our Paris hotel, the boat, and our Reims hotel all provide "free" wi-fi.  It was very wonky in Paris, sporadic on the boat, and here it's working pretty well.  We've decided for our next international trip, we'll definitely have an iPad.  We've done all right sharing my MacBook, but it gets pretty heave for Richard to carry on trains and planes.

Keith is all set with his iPad.  I only have my Nook color which I doubt I will use for posting.

The contraption is dipped into hot oil to fry the pastry and then various toppings are applied.  Ours was coated with chocolate and almonds.

Suddenly those look very tempting.  Thanks for the photos, it was fun to see them.

It seems likely that DS Zach will be participating in a Chinese exchange program where we will have a Chinese student live with us in February for a couple of weeks and then Zach will go live with his family next summer.

This is fantastic!!!!

One arrangement finished, I'm off to run a few errands, starting at the Metropolitan Opera and working my way north.

That sounds like a good Trick or Treat route, DR Elmore.

I just managed to check-out my second library e-book, the Dick Van Dyke autobiography.  Now I just have to figure out how to get it onto my Kindle (which is not wi-fi.)

2.  Get Van Dyke book.
3.  Slam it repeatedly against Kindle until it enters said Kindle.

DR John G, I meant to comment on your inquiry about Lee Lessack, who's got his own recording label. I've never heard him sing, but after meeting him at a cabaret event, i don't think I ever want to run into him again.
So, he is the LL of LML.

I'm sorry.

What would the rhyme of "You're sorry-sniffly" be?

"awful-terriffly"?

I guess I needed to sleep late - part of the ease of doing so is that it was drizzling and I sleep well when it rains.  My meeting is at noon, so the jog will have to wait till one or so, IF it's cleared up by then.  And the meeting won't involve food so I will have to grab something at some point before rehearsal.  Before going to bed last night, I got commentary done for four more songs, so that's good.

Maybe not the first Gene Hackman performance to come to mind, but he was a lot of fun in Get Shorty.

BK, your questions (or at least some of them) about THE CONVERSATION's Blu-ray transfer are answered in my exclusive IV with Coppola's Film Archivist here.

I read it.  It does seem like the transfer is circa 2005.  The flicker he talks about has always been there - it's flicker from the fluorescent light in that bathroom - very natural.  The transfer is nice, don't get me wrong, but the grain in it doesn't quite look like the film grain of the era.

I had been going to the same dentist since I was 12 years old. A couple of years before he planned to retire, he brought in a young dentist, and they worked together for quite some time. So when my dentist did retire, I was okay with the new one because the retiring one was confident in the new one. I will not go anywhere else.

The only dental work I've needed is five (yes five) wisdom teeth removed and one crown to fix a broken tooth, plus some fillings. My dental hygienist makes sure things are healthy every six months.

I've been going to the same dentist since I was 10.  As far as I know, he's not retiring anytime soon.  I've had various dental hygienists over the years and for the most part, they've all been very good.

The only dental work that I've needed (other than having three molars removed, which someone else did), is five fillings.  I got them all before I finished high school.  I haven't had any since.  They've each been replaced with the white stuff (I can never remember what it's called) so it doesn't look like I have any fillings. ;D

I'm back in the Dentist Chair this evening at 6pm. The new crown is ready. Only one more tooth to work on after that. I need prep work for the crown which may take two or three visits, then the impression and then the installation of the crown.

When it's over I will have spent enough to buy a 3-D television.

This morning, I had a sinus lift.

Yes, a sinus lift.

It was costly (dental insurance didn't cover it), but it's necessary for two implants that I pledged myself I'd get this year.  It will be next year, though, as six months have to pass before any more work can be done.

I was given no pain.   But...I may not blow my nose for two weeks.  If I sneeze, I must do it open-mouthed.  For two weeks.

It seems the actual sinus membrane was lifted and now needs time to settle in and get over the shock of being lifted.

I need to be in stasis for two weeks.  Not a day has gone by in eons that I haven't blown my nose or sneezed.

Should be an interesting two weeks.

Procedure took two-plus hours.  There was lots of cutting and grinding.

I felt nothing but the movement of instruments inside my mouth.

I created a safe place for my thoughts which simply contemplated what might be happening in my mouth.  I never want this procedure again.

That said, I'm fine, resting comfortably, and have a comfortable supply of antibiotics and pain killers.

That is all.
