Inspired by the release of Clint Eastwood's new film J. EDGAR, I decided to do a music video of my song, "J. Edgar Hoover".

"J. Edgar Hoover" is a song from my musical-comedy, HAIL ON THE CHIEF.  Book and lyrics by me, music by my son, David Druxman, with additional music and lyrics by this guy named Bruce Kimmel, who also performs this vocal.

In the play, the song is sung by a character, Frank Hughes, a veteran, ultra-right wing Secret Service agent who misses the days when Hoover ran the FBI and much of everything else in Washington.

Enjoy!

Druxy, have you heard the very funny L.A. Theaterworks recording of J. EDGAR! with Kelsey Grammer?

No.

Why do so many theater compaies do OLIVER for their December "holiday" show.  It isn't like it has a real cheery story.  Nancy gets stabbed to death.  Bill Sikes ends up haning.  And little Master Twist gets kicked out of the orpanage for asking for "More, Sir."

Now granted, I have played Fagin in two productions, both at Christmas time, but I didn't pick the show.

Has anyone ever seen Trans-Siberian Orchestra in concert?  I like hearing some of their music, but I don't know if I would enjoy an entire concert.

It is kind of like Kenny G.  Talented man, but two hours worth?

We are off to IKEA for dinner and a little shopping - bye for now!

Swedish meatballs?

Yes, for Richard.  I had fish and fabulous vegetable soup.

Back to Karine Vanasse, the French-Canadian actress I like from PAN AM.  I didn't have time to look for this earlier.  Her character Colette grew up in France during the Nazi occupation and she was required to learn this song.  When the crew visits Germany, she sings this rather defiant version:

Deutschland uber Alles

While I was watching this episode, Richard was in the next room and even he picked up her attitude, just by hearing her.

Regarding the new version of On a Clear Day with Harry Connick, Jr: the word on the Broadway forums is not good!  But since it's still in previews, I guess it's too soon to judge.

Probably because he doesn't have an opportunity to take his shirt (or pajama top) off.

According to Seth Rudetsky, Daisy Gamble is now a gay man, but still becomes Melinda in a past life.  Strange!
