DR JRand61, I just had a long phone conversation with one of my best fre=iends from college, who's investing in "Chistmas Up the Holler." We haven't spoken in over 10 years.

I just want to remind everyone that I, BK, was the first person anywhere to post about the screwup in the West Side Story disc.  I am given NO credit for this anywhere and that includes dear reader JMK who merely says "a hue and cry was heard from film fans everywhere."  Let me tell you that 99% of those "film fans" doing the hueing and the crying would not even have known it was a mistake had I not called attention to it in the first place.  Let's give credit where credit is due, baby. :)

I finessed, wrote, ate (haven't heard a peep about this supposed dinner tonight, so I don't think it's happening and that's fine by me), did some errands and whatnot, was more than surprised that my box 3 Maigret didn't arrive (it's been eight days since shipping and I normally get things from this company in two), picked up two small packages and no important envelope and wrote a bit more.  I've done about eleven pages and I guess I'll try to slog through nine more before the end of the evening.

I'd forgotten what it was like to go to NY every few weeks, which is what I used to do.  In the section I'm writing now, I was there for six straight weeks - I would not do that these days.

This is quite entertaining and informative:

Dubbing Through the Decades

That was very enjoyable, DR Jose!  I was very surprised to hear that Marianne McAndrew was dubbed in Hello, Dolly!  I thought her speaking voice matched the dubbed singing voice perfectly.

Well, it's back to NYC this weekend.  It's amazing how much cheaper hotels are in January as compared with December.

I'm looking forward to seeing Christine Andreas and Kritzerland's Jason Graae at the "Lyrics and Lyricists" concert Sunday.

John G., I am so sorry to read that you need surgery, but thankfully they found it early.  You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Last night was another night spent in the emergency room with the SAME difficulty with my father - only I had different companions.

He is going to see the specialist on Monday - hopefully early.....so we shall see.

Prayers for your father, Jack.

Will anybody in NYC be going to see Darren Criss (Glee) in How to Succeed on Broadway?  They showed the playbill when he was on Live With Kelly. I love that playbill!

DR TCB,

When you emailed amazon.com about your problem did you email the regular customer service or the kindle customer service?  I ask because the latter is very helpful and the former is not.

I would definitely email the kindle CS. They have been very helpful to me.

I am sure you can return the book and get your money back. But i'll bet the kindle CS will help you.

Yes, Jennifer, it was the regular customer service.  They told me it was too late to stop it, because it had already been packaged.  That sounded like BS to me, because it was during the weekend.  They told me that I could refuse the package, but it is more trouble than it is worth.  So, I will give the book to someone as a gift.

I have an extra playbill with Daniel Radcliffe on the cover if you'd like it, but it sounds like you want the new one.

A somewhat well known NYC theatah professional (and Tony nominee) with whom I worked once shared with me that he had done some private readings with LaChiusa and felt "dirty" afterwards.  :)
I don't doubt it. But it all seems like dirty talk rather than actual dirt. And the music is played at all these tempi that seem too coked up to be sensual.

My inference from this person's comments was that it was the "musical" content (or lack thereof) that made him feel less than clean.   ;D

It was probably all the horns that were being blown.

JR, perhaps someone posted about this and I missed it, but are you aware of this?  The Variety review wasn't exactly a rave.   ::)

Is it true that Lucille Ball's voice in MAME was dubbed by Debra Messing?

Yesterday I had the two MRI's.  One of my lower spine and one of my upper spine.  Today, I received a phone call from my surgeon's office saying that he reviewed the thoracic MRI, and was now referring my case over to a different surgeon.  The reason is that my surgeon doesn't deal with the thoracic part of the spine.

Gee, wouldn't it have been nice to discuss this with the patient, rather than just dumping me?  I am not really happy about this.

I wouldn't be, either, but perhaps the new doctor is just what you want and need.
