Vibes to BK for a safe and uneventful trip home.
Great cabaret, great company, and great coconut cake.
I am still finishing my baked potato. :)

TOD;  when I have 2 days of work and one day to do it in  I do not take time to see friends or cruise the interwebs etc etc -  yesterday for instance i arrived at work at 6:45 AM and left at  7:30 PM - I did not eat during that time - indeed I had food with me that I could have eaten at my desk except I find it physically impossible to eat  when I am that stressed - I need to keep my head down and get done what I need to get done - there would be no point in my trying to meet someone for lunch in the middle of that as I would be distracted and a lousy lunch partner

I would be doing my friends no favors by seeing them in that state

That being said,  I am truly sorry I was unable to get in to see you this weekend -  I live  about 50 miles from NYC so it is a hour drive each way and I already had long standing  commitments at Church for this weekend

I am hopeful that you will be back soon and my schedule will permit me to come and see you

I think it is also important to note that while you are an extremely busy person, you are,  in fact, captain of your own ship  while most of the rest of us are mere sailors and must heed time-frames imposed upon us by those who pay our wages

Not really - I'm always curious and always willing to learn from others how they handle things.

And now, I shall be on my way to the airport, and again, apologies if I was silly about it all.

For stress and being physically tired, and well, stressed out, I retreat for at least a day or so to restore my batteries.

For worry, I found a little trick that actually works for me. A friend told me about it and made me do it once, and I found it worked for me.  I make a list of all the things I'm worried about and want to worry about.  I don't actually do any worrying-- I just add the item to the list.  I then set aside some time  (30 minutes or an hour depending on how many things there are), and I worry about them.  I have the copmplete luxury to totally worry for that time.  When the Bell rings, and the time is up, I put the list aside and quit worrying.  It sounds silly, but it works.  And it frees me up the rest of the time to not worry (especially about all those needless things that you find you relly don't have to worry about anyway).  I rarely have to do this anymore because there aren't that many things that actually make it to the list these days.

In other news, the OREGONIAN printed a(n) hilarious retraction of sorts this morning about their recently deceased (ultra conservative) editorial page editor.  It seems he wasn't found dead in his car.  He was found dead in the apartment of the young woman he had been paying for "sexual acts".

Good morning, all! I slept really late and I know I was having another doozy of a dream but I've completely forgotten it.

I'm still in my neck brace - I really hate them - but I still can't turn my head to the left, although the pain is going away, I've met my huge deadline with the booklet notes, and I need a month at the Mayo Clinic to recuperate and readjust. The only major tsuris in my life now is this whole office evacuation/new office mess, so keep them vibes coming!

BK, I am really sorry that I missed you. I do love you and, if the fire hadn't happened and completely freaked me out, I'd have been at Joe Allen's cheering you on. I'm happy to hear that the singer did well. I agree with you about Don't Tell Mama as a venue/

In the late 1980s, before one of the Men's Chorus December concerts, I was up for about two days doing my usual late-minute scoring and copying jobs when I had to go off to a rehearsal.  Since the heat in my apartment was drying everyting inside my head up far too much, I kept a large pot of water simmering on the stove. So, around 6:30, on a Monday night in the middle of December, I closed up the apartment and went to the subway, where I had an attack of "did I leave the stove on?" I went back to the apartment, found that I had turned the stove off. I then turned the stove on and left for several hours. I got back around 11:00 to find a red-hot pan sitting on my stove that luckily did not cause a fire. It sure freaked me out, and I moved about thw apartment very carefully until Wednesday's orchestra rehearsal. Then, I slept for a day.

I'll either die in a fire or under a vehicle from jaywalking.
