THE DRIVER AS IDIOT

Well, you've read the notes, the notes drove the point about drivers home, and now it is time for you to post until the driven cows come home.

Good morning, all! And Happy St Patrick's Day to all of you.

I slept well, no memory of any dreams, and I have a busy morning. I'm meetng a friend from the Men's Chorus I've not seen in 15 years or more since he moved to San Francisco. He's singing in a performance tomorrow of Mozart's Requiem, and then he returns to California. It will be fun to see an old friend - we saw the epic disaster CARRIE tgether and I have a memory that he was with me when I saw my friend Amanda Plummer as Eliza Doolittle in PYGMALION.

After breakfast with him, I will head uptown and work on another score for ROBERTA. I want to avoid as many drunks running around dressed in green and pretending to be Irish as possible.

Glad to hear that MR BK is feeling better.

Yes, there are several basketball games on today and tomorrow....so TAR will probably be late....on the East Coast.

I think I wrote that I feel pretty much the way MR BK does about My Week With Marilyn.  When I heard that Williams does "Heat Wave" in the movie, I was ready to see a recreation of the number from There's No Business Like Show Business.  What we get is "Marilyn" and two males dancers in black - it looks more like a number from Let's Make Love than anything else.....and the rushes from P/S are in some widescreen process - even though it was filmed in academy ratio.

And since I don't like Sir Laurence.....I thought Branagh did him very well.

TOD:

Jaws
Schindler's List

I hope to see War Horse sooner or later.

So many of his films follow the same path that they all are the same to me:

Loner or children makes a discovery.
Discovery is cute.
Entire world of police or military come down on loner or child.
Discovery does something unexplainable.
Loner or child stands there while music plays.

I read the book some years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Somehow the film doesn't appeal to me much.

Heavy rain today which is good because there's been so little rain all winter in London that the water company has issued a ban on the use of hosepipes for gardens, cleaning cars etc.

DR Jane that is very weird about Bryan and them saying they would see him in july. He should probasbly follow up. Although it was probably just someone answering who did not read what he wrote properly.  I also think his friend should follow up because there had to be an error somewhwew. His first choice must think he got matched somewhere else.

Saturday morning greetings!  Richard and I were both up early this morning, so we've had a nice omelet breakfast, read both newspapers, and now we're getting this 'n' that done around the house.  I'm due at the book sale at noon for another 2-hour shift.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Good morning. The winds are scheduled to hit us today; the rain is scheduled for tomorrow. I hope it all holds off long enough for our butterfly walk. Wae-Ling is very excited about the walk.

I have packed us a lunch: peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, carrot sticks, grapes, and apples. I have to set a good example for the child. I really wanted to pack a Hostess Cupcake.

Peanut butter and jelly sandwich Laura? I've never heard of such a thing (at least not on this side of the Atlantic). Sounds revolting ;D

Here I think peanut butter and strawberry jam is more popular. I really like it.

Tomorrow I am going to see Shrek the musical. It is at the same time as the big St. Patricks Day parade. But five blocks away. I think I will be able to drive around it.

I also watched THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN last night and like BK was slightly underwhelmed, though it was fun.  Am the only one who thinks John Williams channeled Lenny's dance stuff from WSS for his score?  It's the exact same motif as one of the pieces in WSS whose name escapes me at the moment.

BK, typically the BD and DVD have different color labels on them.  I agree about putting it on the left under the digital copy insert (that happens a lot, believe me), but typically the BDs have some sort of blue on the label and DVDs don't.
