Well, you've read the temporary notes, the notes will be completed as soon as the power is restored, and now it is time for you to post until the power cows come home.

I thought perhaps you had locked the notes by mistake again.  ;)

Vixmom, re:  your post about ordaining gays, etc.  I had just been hired as Music Director by a large Episcopalian congregation here, with a wonderful liberal British Priest whom I adored, when the very next week Gene Robinson was ordained.  The next Sunday DURING SERVICES about 75% of the congregation stood up en masse and walked out, never to be seen again.  Unbelievable.

BK, I share your furnace woes, though we have power.

The furnace company is NOT going to like my phone call to them tomorrow.

Betsy is up at the veritable crack o' to leave for D.C., so I should hie myself to slumberland.

So did I.  The only (temporary, of course) problem is that the main homepage http://www.haineshisway.com/ doesn't have a link to the http://www.haineshisway.com/smf/index.php page.

Full notes are up and I hope are interesting, so give 'em a look.  Power is obviously back - it came on a little over three hours after it had gone down.

I watched the whole episode, but I was not impressed with the season premiere of "Mad Men," nor did I find it very interesting. :-\

I'll watch it for a while (I'm recording it for a friend), but if it doesn't get more interesting, I won't watch it for much longer.

Listening to the Broadway Radio.

I think there maybe a problem on the Michelle Nicastro section the audio cuts out around the 3:24 and it continues to play to the end of the segment 7:32.

I thought it might have been my reception but I tried it several times and it happens at the same point.

Also don't know if the show went beyond this section it goes to the next part, but nothing plays.

Good morning, all! I slept well, with a curious dream that I was in a hospital working as an anestheniologist, God knows where that came from!

I have some apartment tidying and vacuuming this morning, and I think I may visit the NYPL today as well. I'd like to look at the photos for the 1925 production of DEAREST ENEMY and they're hard to decipher from the online NYPL site:

I also need to get the Act Two full scores of ROBERTA in order so that I can scan them for the copyists. That's my plan for the day. Who knows what fresh hell will change it?

We've been up since the pre-crack o' for Betsy's imminent departure for D.C.  She's trying to get into the Holocaust Museum tomorrow for her one "touristy" thing.

The Lady Vanishes (hey, I like Hitchcock)
Three Days of the Condor
Hopscotch
Pickup on South Street and any of those Commie menace film noirs whose titles I can't remember

A touristy thing? Is this like my parents taking me to Flossenburg when I was a kid?

TOD:

Spy movies?

Not an easy one.  None immediately come to mind.

Of the James Bond movies, GOLDFINGER is certainly my favorite.

If you consider NORTH BY NORTHWEST a spy movie, then that would certainly be #1.

Now that you've go me thinking in that direction, there's a lot of Hitchcock films:

THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH
THE 39 STEPS
THE LADY VANISHES
FOREIGN CORRESPONDENT

For Jews, it's a "touristy" thing.  Actually demand is so high for tickets you have to get there hours before opening for the "same day" attendance (they only allow 2000 people in per day).

This brings to mind an hilarious anecdote that Jack Lemmon told years ago.  He and his wife were on a European tour with Walter Matthau and his wife.  Evidently the Matthaus argued quite a bit and they were involved in a knock down drag out one day when the quartet was visiting a famous war site.  Matthau turned to his wife and shouted, "Now see what you've done!  You've ruined my visit to Auschwitz!"  ;)
