Oy! Such a day. Lots going on, but the DEAREST ENEMY boys haven't killed me, the conductor hasn't throttled me, and I'm still standing. The new deadline is in process: listening to the masters of the Herbert songs. Sounds pretty good.

DR Jane re: some really good Young Adult dystopia from the last year or two.

The ones that got the most buzz other than the Hunger Games i'd say were:
Divergent by Veronica Roth
Shatter by Tahereh Mafi
Delirium by Lauren Oliver
Matched by Allie Condie
Wither by Lauren De Stefano

Thank you.  I will check them out & see what interests me the most.

Craig's decision making just became more difficult with an acceptance to the 3rd top rated school for special education (according to U.S. News & World Report).  Since the school is only a few hours from us we should be pushing it.  At the moment Maryland still looks like the best choice.

Well, I'm off.  Tonight, I'm going to see Capital Playhouse's production of Hello, Dolly!

I'm sure that it'll be a lot of fun.  Be back later!

The place I have met up with friends the last few weeks before Lent services is called Williams Confectionery Crafts, and the confections worth trying tonight were a cherry crumble pie and a red velvet crackle cookie. Yum.

I finally finished listening to "On the Road," so that let me start "Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day." I can't recommend it more highly. Frances McDormand does the reading, and she's as charming as the story, her reading is so infused with life.

Watching a biography of Frank Capra tonight that was filmed ages ago. And one of the commentators is Bob Thomas, who wrote for the AP for decades and decades. He looks ancient in this documentary, and yet 15 years later you still see him name on stories, primarily obituaries that he must have started writing in the 1970s.

This message was brought to you by the Onion:

Marching Band Fundraiser

The Onion would like to apologize for erroneously stating that the Fillmore High School marching band car-wash fundraiser will be held Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. It will actually be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Onion recognized the time and date given were incorrect at the time of publication, but you, dear reader, have no idea—no idea at all—how control over the world's facts becomes a seductive temptress, ceaselessly tormenting our only too-human editors to feel the raw, exhilarating, godlike power of manipulating the truth for our own selfish ends. The price of a car wash is also $5 not $8.

Had a nice chat with one of my former interviewees who entertained me with stories of Raymond Burr's fondness for Marines on leave.

When I was the editor of a small paper in upstate New York, some deranged woman came in one day to share the stories of her long affair with Raymond Burr. We all had fun with that one, once we politely escorted her to the door.

Spent all day smashing togther a direct-mail list for a CA Congressional campaign.

As usual it was a panic phone call of "we need it now".

My mailing lists have been averaging about $10/letter, so the candidate is most anxious to have it. (Too bad I can't convert that "anxiety" into a fee >:( )

Well after I Emailed  the 3000+ addresses with personal Salutations to the Mail House, we both went to Dinner at Saketumi's for their Wednesday night Bento Box specials ($15).

Just finished one the the better American Idol shows and now I need to fill out the paper work for my galucaoma laser eye surgery tomorrow.

For ever-curious Jane and others with too much time on their hands:

Here is a link to DELAWARE EYE INSTITUTE (There are vidoes discussing the procedure)

Since I live a an off-the-beaten track rural area, I have to travel over 5 minutes to reach the institute.

My Dr looks like an extra from one of MBarnum's films:

Had a really nice rehearsal - most of Monday's rough spots were gone, and just a few others to smooth out, which we did.  Now everyone has two full days to get it all together for the stumble-through.

Then I watched two episodes of The Killing II and if I wanted to really make myself sick I would finish the damn thing tonight - that's what kind of an ending episode seven had - whew.  This is simply one of the best TV shows I've ever seen, this season two thing - as stated, season one just went on too long.  This one is perfect and it doesn't even really matter how it wraps up - it's just wonderful.
