SOMETHING TO GUSH ABOUT
« on: April 17, 2012, 12:18:32 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of gushing without actually gushing, and now it is time for you to post until the gushing cows come home.

It was over 80 degrees in NYC yesterday!

It's already 71 now at 5:35am. It's scheduled to get up to 76.

After that it returns to regular spring weather with some rain.

We also had really hot weather yesterday. But it is scheduled to get colder by the weekend.

TOD:

The earliest dancing I can remember was in primary (elementary) school at the age of around 7-10 where we had Country Dancing. We had to pick partners and there was a certain girl who always made a bee-line for me. I wasn't keen on her though because she had sweaty hands!

Country Dancing was like this (obviously they still do it):  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjbbLGejXfs

Good morning, all! I didn't sleepwell last night, thanks to the neighbor above me who, for the past several days, seems to have either herds of animals tromping about between 10pm and midnight or movers packing him up. He's usually very quiet, so I'm at a loss to decipher what the hell is going on.

So, we have no leading man for the recording. James Cleverton's agent offered us a greally good Verdi baritone who's dark voice is all wrong for the role. we're waiting to hear from Richard Morrison's agent today about his status.

So, i've been googling "young british baritone" and getting names like Christopher Maltman, who would be perfect but who's now such a big star we couldn't afford him, or Bryn Terfer, whom I love but who hasn't been young for twenty years.  I did find a couple, but I can find no vocal clips to hear them!

Today, I see a podiatrist at 9:30 on Park Aveneu and 22nd Street. After that, I am off to the Encores! orchestra reading of the score to GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES. I hope when I get back there will be god word on a baritone.

I am sick of this damned hot weather.

TOD: I don't remember not dancing. Not that I've been very good at it. I wish I had had some lessons when I was younger. I haven't had a lesson since the surgery and I am just anxious to get out onto the floor again. When and if I can find/make the time.

Well today is the day.

Yes, Messala, today is the day.

I am cleaning out my closet - for the first time in three years.  Last time I had 18 bags of clothes and shoes for Amvets.  I bought a box of 28 bags - just in case.

I hope to be done....SOMETIME today.

I am not sure what discoveries I will make.

Twice Betsy and I have attempted to dine at an Italian jernt in Lake Oswego.  The first time was a few years ago when we just showed up there one night and were basically laughed at by the host when we went inside and informed him we didn't have a reservation.  Yesterday I booked a reservation for our anniversary dinner and then received a call at 5:30 that their power had gone out so they were canceling our reservation.  Why do I suddenly want to go watch GENTLEMAN'S AGREEMENT?  ;)

So we went to ANOTHER Italian jernt and had a wonderful meal and some very good wine.  The hilarious thing is this place was just hopping, which we assumed was because the other place had closed down for the night.  They only had one poor waiter who was just doing a mad scramble to wait on everyone.

I received a very sweet email this morning from the writer of a small scale Christian film I just reviewed.  It's always nice to hear from folks actually involved in the filmmaking process, or at least tangentially related.  I'll never forget how gobsmacked I was when Samuel Bronston's son started emailing me out of the blue after I reviewed Fall of the Roman Empire or maybe El Cid.

I have been on a nonstop Alfred Deller Consort listening spree since I stumbled upon the fact that all of their Vanguard recordings were released on CD, evidently years and years ago.  But I managed to track down the complete set, which I tend to be obsessive about if I get one volume of something.  :)

Tuesday morning greetings!  I am puttering this morning and will soon attempt a cardio walk around the basement, but I have a sore foot/ankle.  We'll see how it goes...
