Sorry I haven't been posting much today.  My lower back has been really bothering me the last two days.  I finally just gave up and went to bed.  Nicky decided that he needed cookies and that I needed a bottle of water.  So, I got up and now I am going back to bed.

In the new issue of ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY, they rcommend 50 great films youshould know. Three of my faves, COLD COMFORT FARM, THE DAY TRIPPERS, and THE REF, are on it.
I own the latter two of those. And I can recite roughly 50 percent of "The Ref," maybe  more with a cocktail or three.

Matthew, the kids sound great. I was a storyteller  last night at Vacation Bible School, and the kids, all ages, were wonderful. Wish I were working with them for more than one night.

Listening to a really wonderful book from Annie Lamott called "Some Assembly Required," which she wrote with her son, Sam, about the first year of his son. Both are reading the book and their observations are what make the book so rewarding.

Did a cocktail story tonight. Those always make me feel good. Tonight's theme: Tiki drinks. Too bad there was no tiki music in the background.

Where is everybody tonight? I know Danise and TCB have turned in and Ginny's off to hear "Porgy". Anybody else out there?

Just watched a delightful Twilight Time DVD I'd been saving till the mood struck --

STAGECOACH -- the 1966 remake with Ann-Margret, Bob Cummings, Bing Crosby, and a host of other good people.  Score by Jerry Goldsmith.  Delightful all the way.

To celebrate the heat, I've started watching "Do the Right Thing." Haven't seen this since it came out. The writing is even better than I remember it being. And Spike Lee's palette is wonderful. It has a stagey quality that I don't think I cared for the first time, but I think it fits now.

I recently picked up the Blu-ray of "Do the Right Thing" and marveled at a few scenes.  Probably a good idea to watch it for real now.  It's been years for me, too.

Had a good, if rough, rehearsal, and then a really nice dinner with Kay Cole and her hubby Michael Lamont.

This is what happens when Jane leaves town and everyone takes a day off - our lowest posting day (actually I don't think it is).

Listening to yet another upcoming Kritzerland project.  A favorite composer who will be making his full-length score debut on Kritzerland - and this release is historic for another reason, too.

Well, I just found out that my aunt, who is supposed to be visiting from California this weekend, has actually been here since Tuesday!  No one told me that she got here on Tuesday!  Anyway, I'm leaving work now and going to my parents' house to visit my aunt, the nun.  Yes, she's a nun...and she's a kick in the pants. :D

Be back later!

Tonight, I went to my parents' house and visited with my aunt, my dad's sister.  They were playing Phase 10 when I got there, so I just watched and we all chatted and caught up.  For dinner, we had homemade tacos...very good.
