Potential great news: Capitol thinks they found One More Kiss. A single small one inch tape. Mislabeled as a soundtrack. If its the eight track we are home free. Won't know till later or tomorrow

Hi all and good morning!

Vibes for DS Craig that he makes his class today!

To answer your question DR Jane, I wouldn't lose my seniority or vacation/sick time.  I might take a hit in pay but it is also possible that since I'm not even to mid point (thanks to the raise freeze we have suffered this past FIVE years) they may decide to keep me at my current level.  It's possible because the job is just one step/level down from my current position.  I just have to cross my fingers that it happens.

Thank you to everyone who wished me luck.

Vibes and a wonderful day to everyone!

A woman that works here in my building had a job in one of the branches that was at a higher pay level than where she is now.  She deliberately took this (lower pay level) job because it was full-time, and what she had before was only part-time (24 hours a week, I think).  Getting full benefits more than made up for the loss in her base pay.

In the movies, whenever a doctor is talking a patient into being a human guinea pig (to save their life), you never hear them say, "Oh, by the way, you have a 50 / 50 chance of getting a placebo.

I guess nobody would want to make a film about the person who got the placebo.

Maybe not, but someone (several someones, actually) wrote a musical about it. :D

My two cents on "One More Kiss": The show's fans know the history of its not having been included on the original vinyl album. With  the release of the CD and the song's inclusion, it was presented in order with, as I recall, a footnote about the aural quality. To make yours different, I would include it at the end with a similar footnote, because as you state on the cover, this is the remixed and remastered recording, but "One More Kiss" won't be.

Or maybe have Dame Edna come in and record a new version. :)

That would be cool. :D

DR George I hope this years keynote speaker isn't getting paid to speak.

He is...I don't know how much, but the speakers always are.  But his fiction writing isn't as blatant (I guess) and he has a lot of fans, so we'll see how it all goes.  Maybe I'll wear my "It Gets Better" t-shirt.

the good news is we have indeed found the eight-track One More Kiss.  The less than good news is they probably can't transfer it this week, although I've pleaded with them to try and squeeze it in - otherwise we'll have it at the beginning of the week, but at least we'll have it.

Well folks, it seems I've done it again.  I just stepped in from the walk in clinic.  This time I had an "interesting' reaction to "something".  What I don't know.  My eyes are so swollen they are almost shut.  And while I assure you it looks far worse then it feels, It's not fun either.
The folks at the walk in clinic were great.  I think I scared the sh*t out of them when I walked in.  I just said I think I'm having some kind of reaction to something and after one look at my face, man did they spring into action.   One took me by arm and I was put on a gurney toot sweet while they checked my bp, temp, etc.  They kept asking if I felt my throat getting tight but I wasn't having any kind of breathing problem.
The doctor couldn't believe I drove myself there and wasn't sure I would be allowed to drive myself home but he had to.
I got a shot that hurt like the dickens (still hurts truth be told) and 3 prescriptions.
Anyway, I'm home, safe, going to take my contacts out here in a moment and take the pills I got.  Then I'm going to bed.  I was told not to lay flat but I don't do that anyway because of the sleep apnea.
What an exciting life I have.
No worries, I'm fine.  Just practicing my oriental look. :)

OMG DR Danise that sounds awful. I can't believe that you drove yourself either. That sounds very dangerous.

Hopefully your meds/shots will help. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I've driven with very swollen eyes and it is a bit scary.  I feared they would completely close before I got home to take some Benadryl.  Fortunately they didn't and the drive wasn't as bad as I expected.  Unlike DR Danise only my eyes were effected and I knew the cause.

DR Danise, I guess they were asking if you felt your throat closing because that is common in allergic reactions. Did this happen this morning or tonight? Had you eaten something?

When I was young and often dealt with swelling due to food allergies my parent's never mentioned how dangerous my throat swelling was.  I'm glad they didn't, it was painful enough without being scared.

It was the allergist I worked for when I was 19 that was horrified when I told him about my food reactions.  I was kind of shocked when he told me I could die from them.

Anthony loved

The Art of Racing in the Rain

I'm really looking forward to reading it.  I finished the 6th book in Howard Fast's Series about the Lavette family.  It was wonderful

Right now he's reading

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

and loving it even more.

I'll read Guernsey after him. I may have to renew it before I finish. It's due July 21st.

I read this a few years ago -  I believe it was recommended to me by the much missed E & T DR td -- I greatly enjoyed it!!!
It's been sitting on my to-read end table for more than two years now. Maybe after graduation ...

I need to add it to my nook library

Glad to hear it. A friend of mine recommended it to me a couple of years ago, and I bought it.  Alas it has been sitting on my shelf since then.  I just noticed it the other day, so I guess it's time to pull it down and actually read it.

Then you can come to Iowa and go to Book Club with me!
