Crazy morning, but I think that's all done now. I had to deal with CDs arriving without anyone telling me they were arriving - that won't happen again. Then I had a sandwich and no fries, then picked up some packages. It's REALLY hot here today, but I have the air on and it's comfy in the house.

The vocals are dead, the dialogue is dead - when I was listening to our remixes, I'd occasionally A/B them with the first Follies release and then the new recording - it was - illuminating.

That's another thing that can kill an OCR for me--inclusion of segments of dialogue. I son't mind a lead-in or a brief exchange. But recordings like ANNIE 2, VICTOR/VICTORIA, and the latest A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC and FOLLIES are filled with it. It disrupts the listening experience for me.

I know what you mean. That Broadway Cast Album of WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF? didn't leave ANY room for the songs.

I was in a local production of "Amadeus" where 15, count 'em, FIFTEEN pages were cut! It was opening night (a very long story) and there were a couple of people whose only scenes were in those 15 pages! They took their bows but didn't perform that night.

I was in a production of "Ten Little Indians" performing the role of Philip Lombard. At one point three-quarters of the way through, a friend who played Blore skipped several pages. It was final dress and we had to play it as if for real. I carefully adlibbed something and gave him his original cue hoping he'd glean that he'd jumped ahead. He came in with the same "several-pages-later" line. I adlibbed some more, addressed him by character name, and then gave him the cue again. He just looked at me totally confused. The director stopped the play and explained to him what he had done. He came back and said, "I thought we were supposed to play this as if it's a performance and move on." I laughed and explained: "Yes, Lewis, but if we had continued your way we'd have had an extra person on the stage. You skipped a murder that would have just left three of us and my next line addresses the death that has not yet happened."

All the peformances went smoothly with little "looks" when he got the correct line each night!

I find it vastly amusing that dear reader Pogue, who used to have lots of folks here read and enjoy his musings and posts, now doesn't post here ever because he thinks Facebook is all about him. Note to Pogue: You had many more readers here - no one sees his posts except the same two people who always respond to them. It's so funny that people think they're reaching a vast number of people there. Come back, little Pogue - you're much better off here.

Is there any way to point out that there is indeed singing in the play without sounding like a frigging know-it-all?

Thanks, Jack, and sadly, he is no longer on the the board at all. He didn't know or think to add his name for one of the officers-at-large positions in addition to secretary. Most people did that. The worst part is that his girlfriend DID put her name in for an officer-at-large position and she got it! If he'd done that, he probably would've gotten it and not her. So, the really big question is if she'll stay or not...or maybe she'll convince him to at least stay involved with the theater group. Other previously de-elected people have stayed involved. $:-\$

Girl friend? It just goes to show that there are no straight male secretaries!

Well,I'm back from a Wonderful Time In Hilton Head,South Carolina.
Weather was kinda Hot-But It Didn't Rain. Restaurant's Were Great. And I missed All Of You At HHW. I also Missed The Great FOLLIES news. That Is Really Exciting. A Great Big Huzzah,Cheers and Champagne Overflowing To BK For Making It All Happen.

Listening to the mastered versions of the first seven tracks - they sound wonderful, but I'm not sure they sound more wonderful than what we sent - so I'm having him do two tracks that basically are just level-matched but that don't have the EQ he's used - just want to make sure we're being very true to the sound of our mixes. Usually the mastering EQ is subtle but will bring out nuances, and I just want to be sure the RIGHT nuances are coming out. Once I have the "vanilla" tracks I'l be able to toggle back and forth and make an easy decision.

So....a little toy that is 50 years old - that thought its life was over......that had set in a room by itself for years.....had been shoved in a box and traveled across the country in a truck.....finds itself a STAGE STAR.....and on the front of the newspaper!!!
