Favorite surfing album:  Annette Sings Golden Surfing Hits!!!

I especially likes it when she sings "Surfer Boy" a riff on "Surfer Girl"  -  and paints the word picture as follows:

"And if my woody breaks down somewhere on my surf route,
I'll strap my board to my back and hitch a ride in my wet suit!"

And this one:

Once at SEA-TAC, I just kept hoping that my bags would make it off the conveyor belt in time so that I could catch the last Light LINK train into downtown Seattle... And they did, and I did!

I stared giggling as soon as I got out of the Westlake Station. All the storefronts were closed, but I could already tell that this was no longer the Seattle that I viewed through my nine-year old eyes. I can't wait to see it in the daylight.

Alas, I just unpacked my bike, and it looks like it banged around a bit, and I'll need to get the back tire adjusted. Thankfully, there are two Brompton dealerships in the area, and I'll take it after I grab breakfast. Hopefully, they can take care of it on the spot.

Have you give me another reason NOT to go back to Seattle?

I left there at age 22 (1963); have visited several times since.  The last time was in 2004.  It had changed so much by then, I got lost.  It took me an hour of driving around to find the house I'd grown up in.

Nice after-effect of the recent rains here. (I did not take the photo.)

That's a stunning rainbow, DR John G.

The best (largest, most complete) one I ever saw was just this past May, driving from Columbus to Cincinnati.  There was no place at that moment to pull over and get a leisurely look, let alone take a picture.

Tuesday morning greetings!  It's definitely feeling like fall here in SW Ohio today.  I have some book group work to do that dovetails nicely with some Middfest work and it all involves reading about France.

I actually thought that there was a "NEW SONG" called "Dinner Table" which uses one the waltzes and snippets from other songs.

This one is a "chamber orchestra" arrangement that, as well as I can recall now, I found imaginative and tasteful, better than many reduced orchestrations.  A couple of things irritated, but I'd have to go through it to find them.

I checked out my bike this morning, and it look likes the rear rack just got "crushed" a little bit which is making it rub against the rear fender. It should be an easy fix. I hope.

In the meaning, it turns out that my hotel has bikes for their guests' use. I may or may not take one out later. There's a lot around here I want to check out on foot.

Thanks for all the Travel Vibes.

All in all it was a good flight. The crew really tried to get us out of the gate ASAP and make us comfortable in the air. And my row-mates were quiet and freshly-bathed. ::)

DR Elmore - Glad to hear your meeting went well.

I guess you had dinner in the Pasta and Pizza restaurant in Eataly? My favorite is still the vegetable one. However, I do wish there was more crossover between the in-house restaurants.

And then there's the one with Frederica Von Stade. Or is that the one?

The diabetic thanks you for this verbal sugar-induced coma.

And all I could think of this morning was coconut custard pie.  :)

Just found out my cousin in Switzerland is due to deliver today. She doesn't know if it is to be a boy or girl. Or if the baby will actually arrive today. Since she's not in labor is it's much later there, it's doubtful.

re: book bloggers and how many books they buy a year
Quote
Really??  Are they actually reading 100-200 books a year??

They do actually read 100-200 for sure. But that is how many they probably buy. Many of them also got a ton of books for free.
