Thursday morning greetings!  I've been up a while, drinking coffee and finishing Robert Massie's Catherine the Great for my book discussion tonight.  I get to stay home all day until it's time to go over to Emilie's for the meeting.  Let the puttering begin!

Kate the Great, as Cole Porter wrote:

She made the butler
She made the groom
She made the maid who made the room.
She made the army
She made the marines
Made some of them princes
And some of the queens
And when she still was discontent,
Kate'd create a new regiment.
So, beautiful ladies, before it's too late
Follow the lead of this potentate
Give up arranging affairs of state
And stay in the hay like
Kate the Great.

Rob Lester just gave me the best Christmas present in a long long time! I'm still in shock.

I can't believe how fast these days are flying by.  What turned into "Oh, I have four weeks left" of school has turned into -"What??  The Christmas Program is next Thursday???" So, while we're not scrambling to get it done, we getting things done at a good pace.  It's a rather extensive production I've put together that I'm calling "Holidays Around the World", students and teachers alike are excited by the program, and I guess I am to.  I have to write (to use a bk term) the "contextual commentary" this weekend and get it to the appropriate students that speak well, and tomorrow we head to the church (where we present this thing) and work on our Olympic Style procession (countries of the world using the music from "It's a Small World" of course because I take ALL my inspiration from Disney) and if we can walk and sing at the same time, we're golden.

TOD:

I like both actors but I don't have any favorite movies of theirs. It might be that I am more familiar with the work each did on television. Certainly I loved THE FLYING NUN.

Good morning, all.

Happy Thursday vibes.

With regard to a TOD earlier this week, here's Lee Remick doing a trippy version of "Whatever Lola Wants" from an ultra-mod TV production of "Damn Yankees." She's quite good, even if the approach is dated.

:)  I've always been a Lee Remick fan.

I didn't realize David Strathairn was in Lincoln.  I have always liked him since he was on The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd.

I'm up, I'm up, and guess what I woke up to?  A missive from the dealer who was offended I'd put out there what I did in today's notes.  I told him there was nothing to be offended by, that it's my little corner of the world, I don't name names, and that it wasn't really even about him, but about the gluttony of releases this time of year by any number of people, and how hard that make it for others when they have to postpone to release dates to not go near the madness.  THAT was the real point.  I like this fellow and his co-horts and frankly we would not be in business if it wasn't for their company and I've told them that any number of times - very few of us would be in business if it wasn't for their company.  The fact that some little twit felt it necessary to direct them to the notes - THAT'S what's offensive.   Happily, I have the e-mail address of the twit.
