Wednesday morning greetings from gloriously sunny Norwich!  We have a full day ahead, including a visit to the Cathedral library and a lot of time with the music program.  First lecture is about to begin - vibes for all!

For DR Jane or Cillaliz, are many ebooks available for lending at B&N? I don't buy that many full price books at amazon so I am not sure how many of their ebooks are available for loaning. Although I have noticed a book or two I have that says it is available.

Also re why someone might not want to lend an ebook. I would think the main reason would be if you have not read/finished it (since it disappears from your device while the other person has it.)

Good morning, all.

Woke at 5:30 a.m. following a dream about an approaching tornado, which took place somewhere in the Midwest.  What I was doing there, I have no idea.  But I found myself wide awake, with no excessive tiredness or Oys or anything else, laid there for a bit and got joined for a while by a cat or two, then finally decided at 6:20 that there was nothing to do but get up.

So here I am, drinking a Dunkin' Donuts K-cup of coffee, which is pricey but not bad at all.  No sir, not bad at all.

It's cold, I'm cold.   The oven is on to warm the place up.  I have no heater, just the oven.  Since I'm only home and awake for an hour in the morning it works just fine.   And very cheap.

I put 20 lbs back on last year.  Not by eating more, but just because I stopped walking every day.
I tried walking the mall after work because of the cold, but it's just not the same as being outside.

 :(

Might just have to get used to the cold, and WALK.

Good morning, all! I had another round of weird dreams, but I realize my last dream about Lotte Lenya and the Kurt Weill Foundation may have been prompted by anemail from the Foundation yesterday that led to a discussion of the new Mordden book on Weill and Lenya. The dream was fun; something about my runnng into Lenya in Europe and running around with her. I remember nothing of an earlier dream now except for the fact that it had something to do with a car crash at Goldman Avenue and Florence street, about three blocks from where I grew up.

Another day today at Toyland: I'll finish my cpffee and head out. I have to deal with a McGlinn Estate inquiry from the Library of Congress. Oy!

Well yesterday we had dancing chili peppers, dolphins, and new dogs.

It was a great day.

Continued vibes for DR MATTHEW.

Last night's dreams for DR CHAS SMITH and DR ELMORE are both anxiety and acceptance dreams that reflect an unknown element that has you puzzled.

Good morning.  Back to work today. Students will receive a demo on the ukelele and mandolin, the latter I'll need to learn very quickly.  It'll be too too fun, though.

Asking BK:

You, I believe, read the original screenplay for CHINATOWN.

How what was the original ending?

Thanks.

Good morning, all.  AGAIN.

What a surprise.  After being up so early this morning, all the missed sleep suddenly rushed back and made itself known, and I went back to bed for a follow-up snooze.  A snooze, mind you.  Well, that follow-up snooze lasted three hours, and here I am at 10:30.  That hardly ever happens.  I mean, almost no more than a hurricane in Hartford, Hereford, etc.

And a dream or two, yes, but they're slipping away fast.  Nothing too odd this time, methinks.

They cut his song in Cole Porter's Aladdin. Bummer. It was the last song Porter ever wrote, "Wouldn't It Be Fun (Not to be famous)."

Last night I went through the last of what used to be MANY boxes of home-grown VHS tapes, mostly movies recorded off the "air", many still unavailable on disc or which I simply want/need to watch once before tossing them.  Got a couple of things watched and tossed, which felt good, and I really wish I could toss the lot in one fell swoop since storage is always at a premium and needs to be dedicated to DVD and Blu-ray.  But man, that is so much easier said than done.  I need to devote a few evenings to just sitting down and schlepping through these last couple of dozen tapes, watching whatever it is I was keeping them for, and kiss 'em off.

There will still be maybe a dozen things I "have to" keep, but that's acceptable when you consider the original number was well over 200 tapes.  It's taken me a year and a half to get them down to this number.  The core of that material, the stuff I do love and go back to, has been replaced with proper DVDs, etc., and of course a little of it wasn't worth replacing at all.  At least I can say without hesitation that I'm much better now in knowing what to acquire.  I recently went through my hundreds of DVDs and BLUs and found the collection to be so tight that only two things came out.  When I know I'm that careful, I can live with the shelves and shelves and shelves of it.  In fact, I WANT to live with all those shelves of it.  They just have to be the RIGHT things, then all is justifiable.
