Hello from freezing NoVa (Northern Virginia).  We had about an inch of snow this morning and there may be another inch tomorrow afternoon.

I also remembered, in order to report a page as spam you have to "like" it first.

I didn't realize that. It seems like something bigoted like that would be taken down automatically. One would think a petition shouldn't even be necessary.

Speaking of Medford.....I skipped the gym today and drove to Barnes and Noble to get my grand nephew super hero books for his birthday.

How far is the B & N?  How come you drove there instead of ordering the books online?

Well, I'm off.  I'm ushering for Whose Live Anyway? and I can't wait!  The last time that they were here, I ushered and it was one of the funniest things that I've seen.  They're hysterical!! ;D

Chip Esten was supposed to be on this tour, but he's now going by the name of Charles Esten and is on a little show called "Nashville" with Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere.

Until later!

It doesn't make sense.  I know that it also takes a lot of people marking it as spam, which is understandable.  It wouldn't be right for one or two people to have that kind of power.

It is a half hour drive, mostly on the freeway.  At least our freeways aren't overly busy.

I wanted to look at the books to know what I was getting & then have them gift wrapped in birthday paper.  I'll put them in a priority envelope tomorrow & mail them along with the cute birthday card I found.  My shipping cost won't be much more than the sales tax in California.  Oregon doesn't have a sales tax.

T.O.D.

Favorite Films:  All of the Basil Rathbone / Nigel Bruce SHERLOCK films, even the Nazi ones.

Favorite play:  CRUCIFER OF BLOOD - Because I enjoyed doing the show, and because it was my college roommate's first Broadway show.

And 'We are getting your dribbles now, BK' is the title of the third and final book in the series.

And who will be playing you in the film versions?  Andy Devine is dead.

Tonight I watched LILITH for my first time ever.  Wow.  What a find.  I wonder why this one didn't come to my attention at whatever tender age I was at when it was released.

TOD:

I read the Sherlock Holmes stories as an adult and loved them. To me, Jeremy Brett WAS SH. I didn't care for the Downey/Law SH, but I love SHERLOCK. I know some people don't like it, and I can understand that. I don't usually like anyone messing with my old favorites. But it's done so cleverly that it won me over.

We are open to, and have watched, many of the movies that take great liberties with the Sherlock characters.  I found that my die-hard friends who don't like any of the non-traditional themes are fans of the tv show SHERLOCK.

Is that the series with the actor with the strange name.......... Buttcheeks, or something like that?

The 1962 Bollywood film BEES SAAL BAAD is a  version of HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES...and a good, spooky one also. No Sherlock Holmes in it, but there is a police detective character.

You can watch it with subtitles here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jqgY6odgLc

Of course, if you don't want to watch the entire movie (although I don't know why you wouldn't), just watch the first couple of minutes...very vintage 1930s Universal-like atmosphere going on there!

Can't I get it dubbed?

BK

Is the recording of Bacharach/David The Flip Side a soundtrack or a studio recording?

Whatever it is, is it something Kritzerland can release?

It's owned by Universal, so it can't be us.  It's been out twice in Japan on CD and while it's pricey it's worth it.  It's the soundtrack to the TV show.

What a busy little day this has been.  Had a nice chat with Juliana about her show, which she felt went well but not as well as The Federal, mainly due to it being such a different kind of venue - had I been able to go up there with her, I could have made some adjustments and helped her, but alas, I could not, all due to the outrageous air fares to Oakland.  Terrible.  I'd had my sandwich and no fries prior to that, so then I picked up one package and came back home.  Then my pal David Wechter came by and we had a nice chat, and then Shelly Markham came (he's the musical director for the singer) and brought a surprise visitor with him - my friend Gene Castle.  We all had the best time yakking - David hadn't met either Shelly or Gene so he had fun, too.  Then the singer arrived and we still yakked on.  Then David and Gene left and we began work, which more about in the notes.

It was a long three-hour rehearsal and a good one.  Then Shelly and I went over to the local CPK and I had the cedar plank salmon (600 calories) so I only had about 1100 calories for the day, pretty good.

Why did Juliana send such a weird e-mail?

She doesn't realize she's doing it - many people who send e-mails don't actually read them before pressing send.  I've certainly been guilty of it.
