On June 21, 1969, I was in Ellensburg, WA attending summer quarter at Central WA State, and working summer quarter on the theater stage crew at the school. It was a Saturday night, and the two ladies working on the stage crew invited me over for dinner andto watch TV. I didn't have a TV where I was livng so this was a treat. We ate dinner, probably had a few beers, and watched TV. Back then, prior to Saturday Night Live, NBC used to show the Best of the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. That night, one of the guests on the show was Judy Garland. As I left to walk home, I said to Suzy and Dorothy, that one of my greatest goals in life was that, someday, I could see Judy Garland perform in person.
The next morning, the clock radio went off and the first thing I heard was that Judy had died.
