The Oy!ster Festival!

Well, when you put it that way...

It sounds like our very own DR elmore3003 should be the headline act!         ;D

I think he's already the Upper West Side's own headline act!  Let's not spread him around TOO thin!

The Oyster Festival sounds fantastic!  I wanna go!!!

DR George, I loved your photo you posted last night, and I forgot to congratulate DR John G on his book contract.

I just had my trek to 72nd Street; as long as I'm looking at my shoes while I walk, there's no pain, but when I forget, it's so bad I can hardly stand. But I'm now home: no falls, no collisions, no bruises.

Tuesday morning greetings!  After my killer day yesterday I crashed about 10pm and slept 'til 8:30 this morning.  Today, it's back to AAUW work and some household stuff.

I suspect whoever shows up first in San Antone' ready to hit the ground running will win the assignment.

On reflection this morning, I realize whole subplots were dropped for the US Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.  And they all contributed something worthwhile to the story, so, just another reason the original is more satisfying.

I'd also mentioned the subtitles being more challenging than usual.  That's because of the incredible number of names to absorb, and the fairly quick pace of the proceedings.  But it is all so damned rewarding.  When I go back to watch it again, I'll try the English dub track, but I usually only enjoy those in the case of fun old B-pictures, horror and whatnot.  In the case of TATTOO, the subtitles force you to a more thorough understanding of the film, and that's where it's at for me.

I don't believe I've congratulated DR John G. on the book.

Congratulations on the book, DR John G.!  Seriously, how great to have that opportunity handed to you, and I can't even imagine how great it would be to be a participant survivor of the Texas Barbecue Tour!

It's a date.  I think we had a Dorothy Parker or something she inspired when we were there

I only remember that I became a bit giggly from the drink :)   It was a very fun time and my only time at the hotel and their bar.  The waiter was nice too.

From DR Singdaw:

DR Cillaliz - is there a homemade apple pie in your future?

I wish we could eat the apples in our tree but they aren't very good.  The wildlife enjoys them.  Unfortunately the pear tree attracts bears and the very big bear (size determined by the scat left behind) is destroying the tree.  We have decided we should really pull it down and if we do so the apple tree will go with it.

Good morning, all.

Had to rise and shine (okay, I didn't exactly shine) and load Mikey* into the carrier for his return trip to the vet for dental work:  two more extractions (he's had to lose several already, just one of those cats) and cleaning the rest.  They'll "do" him this afternoon and we'll pick him up tomorrow.

*the cat, not the DR

Which btw is just one more of the good things about this cat clinic -- they won't release 'em till the day after, whenever they've been sedated.  I know someone in NYC who had to bring hers home following something like this, when the cat obviously shouldn't have been anywhere but safely inside a protective cage during recovery.

And now?

Coffee!

Oh man.  Remember the lost/stolen cell phone?

Our long national nightmare is almost over.

"Your Request for Service has been approved and a new phone has been ordered. Please allow 4-6 BUSINESS days for delivery."

It's taken two weeks of jumping through hoops and bugging Verizon for a statement and bugging the police department for the report, which I just picked up yesterday...but the damned insurance is coming through.

Yay!!!!!     ;D
