TOD:
I don't share the distaste for remakes that some have, and I never judge a remake before I have seen it (of course, I don't always have any great interest in seeing the remake, either)
The 1990s TV movie remake of I MARRIED A MONSTER FROM OUTER SPACE was great fun.
The 1970s and the 2000s remakes of KING KONG were awful, I thought.
The remake of MIGHTY JOE YOUNG was enjoyable, but I don't need to see it again.
I have never seen the remakes for CAPE FEAR, PSYCHO, INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS, THE BLOB, or many others that seem to be very popular.
I have seen remakes of DR JEKYLL AND MR HYDE that I enjoyed. And the UK's Hammer Studios had some fine remakes of assorted horror films. Their version of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is one of my all time favorites.
Many of my favorite Bollywood movies are remakes. GUMNAAM, which is a remake of AND THEN THERE WERE NONE, is quite good. And I love the Bollywood remakes of MADAME X and NO MAN OF HER OWN, not to mention the Hindi versions of CHUCKY and NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, both of which I love!
