I played Banjo twice - both times at LACC but more than a decade apart - second time as a guest artist.  The role is grand fun, especially if you embrace the Harpo-ness of it.

Today, a storm swept thru Washington making it the rainiest JUly 23 on record in Western Washington.  In Eastern Washington, the firefighters were pulled off of the fires this afternoon due to the high risk of flash flooding.  Still, the fires continue to spread.

You would think that much rain would put out the fires. :(

Wow...that's a beautiful and quite scary picture.

It probably would, but the rain is on the western side of the state and the fire is on the eastern side of the state.  Ne'er the twain shall meet. :-\

And now, I must be off.  We're doing a reading of the latest version of a script (title to be announced later, when everything is finished) that will eventually be a musical that Theater Artists Olympia will put on.  It's an adaptation of a public domain movie, so we don't have to pay anyone for the rights.  It should be a lot of fun.

Until later!

Then why did flooding stop the firefighters?

New Moon in Leo coming up.....Mars enters Scorpio - As Mars sets a new course in intense Scorpio, you're now ready to hunker down and invest significant time and energy in your goals. Allow your passion to direct you, and don't let anything stop you. If you can harness the determination and power of this forceful sign, you'll accomplish more over the next couple months than you have in quite some time! Mars will remain in Scorpio until September 13.   :D

How does this impact someone with Scorpio as a rising sign?

Talked to my folks. They are both fine. This is the first time in 59 years that they've ever been in an accident, so it never occurred to them that their insurance might cover a rental car. Hopefully they've found out by now.

59 years is a long time.  I've been hit too many times and consider them very lucky.  I never inquired into a rental but I was ok without one.
I've had a rental every time.  It's a life saver

It was a fascinating weekend with the survivors of the crash of 232.  Hard to believe it was 25 years ago.  It was an emotional journey and I didn't even have a direct connection to the flight. They were so inspirational.  The message was if there is anything you want to do in your life...do it now, you never know what is going to happen.

DR Jane do you swim with ear plugs?  I often cut ear plugs in half and use half an ear plug with a bathing cap when i swim. I don't like the feel of water in my ears.  Not sure what my niece will do in the future.  She's been swimming a lot and has never had this problem (it is very common). The swim meet should be interesting tonight especially the girls 8 and under relay (as my niece and the best swimmer won't be there).  so they will be down two girls. But i think they have 4 others who could potentially do alright.

I tried ear plugs for awhile and didn't like them.  Once I stopped doing the sidestroke I really didn't have a problem.  I also take breaks in the shallow end and tilt my head plus I dry my ears when I get out of the water & use a gentle hair dryer once I'm home.  Last week I used a bathing cap for long hair I & found it tolerable, however, more water got into my ears.  I will try your method of cutting the plugs in half.  You are referring to silicone plugs?

I think they are foam ear plugs.

Interesting. I will try my silicone ones whole before trimming them.

I decided to apply for a district court judge opening.  the job was just announced and apps aren't even due for a few weeks, but I decided to tell Edith so she could decide what she wanted to do. I assumed she'd wait to even look for something until we were farther along in the process. But  the next day she came in and told me she had a new job and wanted to cut back her hours with me to part time.  Wow. That was quick.  She also has a couple other people who want to interview her including another lawyer.   SO....changes are afoot.  It will either be both of us moving on to new and exciting things, or Edith moving on and changes for me.

Got to tap class tonight, but it was exhausting. Don't know if it was the heat or any lingering after effects. It was not a pretty picture.

I'm happy for her and supportive, but still sad and feel like a family member is moving on.

Starting a movie called "Reaching for the Moon," which is about the poet and novelist Elizabeth Bishop who finds her true love in Brazil. I'm finding it fascinating.
