Cough seems a bit more manageable today.  I shall shortly be on my way to The Smoke House for some food.  I'm thinking a shrimp cocktail, cup of chowder and either an artichoke or pulled pork sandwich - the latter they do very well.

Someone should tell Vixmom's AARP person, "Don't you know this is Vixmom, who works all the hours God sends and still does lots of good works for others and NEEDS HER SLEEP!"

I have never heard of drinking water for chronic pain or for coughs  all I know is that if I had to drink a half ounce of water for every pound I weigh there would soon be a Vixmom induced drought on the Island of Long

(1) DR Jeanne believes in drinking lots of water. She currently lives in California.

(2) California is experiencing a severe drought.

Are the two related??

The more you cough, the more you have to cough.  It's insidious.  My weapon of choice in controlling and eventually getting rid of it is Robitussin-D, or store brand equivalents (CVS's Tussin-D, etc.).

There are different varieties for different kinds of cough needs, but for me, "D" first and foremost gets the constant hacking under control, while making the coughs more productive so you get rid of crap.  I follow dosage instructions, and the important thing is to keep it going until you're truly rid of the cough.

Have you ever tried using a neti pot?  I love mine.

Oh!  Is that what you are calling it now?

TOD - I started doing crossword puzzles when I retired, but have slacked off a bit.  Every once in a while I'll set up a jigsaw puzzle - that was especially fun when we had our Japanese exchange students and a young Robbie and needed activities that weren't dependent on spoken language.

I thought you wrote, "...with a young rabbi."

Having had several bouts with bronchitis, allergy-induced asthma, and pneumonia, I've been prescribed about every cough remedy in the book.  I always fall back on Robitussin-D or its generic for the best results.

My late Uncle Billy created another favorite - dissolve a box or 2 of clear rock candy in a pint of rye whisky and sip slowly.  It's not a quick fix, because the candy takes several days to dissolve.  Mom used to make a batch at the beginning of cold and flu season, just to have on hand.  Best place to find rock candy is Cracker Barrel gift shops.

Or make your own.

Drinking the water isn't for pain relief.  The water is to keep the pain medication from adding constipation to your problems.

My preferred cough remedy is to make a nice hot pot of tea, (take care to first warm the tea pot before brewing the tea)   take a tea mug and warm it, then add a generous amount of honey, place on top 1 thick  slice of lemon (remove the pips!)

Richard and I have been out to replenish Mother's Scotch, take out her trash, vacuum her carpet, and wash her dishes.  Two of those 4 things should have been done for her by the housekeeping and maintenance staff, but she contends they haven't shown up.  I think she either doesn't hear them or chooses to ignore them.

Take me back to Manhatten...

I'll wager that if repleshing the scotch was one of the housekeepers duties, she would have heard them knock!

Just got back from shopping for this and that, and guess what was in the mailbox.

Go on, guess!

Bet you can't guess.

I think anyone trying to type with a stovepipe should definitely NOT have his scotch replenished.

Trust me, I didn't.

Cilla, thanks for mentioning Care Credit. I'd heard of them, but didn't know there was no interest for a year. I'll keep that in mind.

I need to take a shower then go to work for a moment.  I just need to see if I have a meeting on a day that my friend Margo would like me to drive her to a medical procedure.  After that, I'm going to meet Margo and her friend Marsha at the new Oyster House.  None of us has been there since it's been rebuilt, but I've heard good things about it.

Dinner with Marsha and Margo was quite delish.  I don't like seafood, so I had their barbecue burger.

Then Margo and I shared a Kahlua chocolate cake for dessert.  Yummy!

I bought the new "Annie" soundtrack from Target's website, but I accidentally ordered the regular edition, instead of the two-track bonus Target exclusive edition.

So, I returned the regular edition to the store (with no trouble), and bought the Target exclusive version.

They were the same price, so I didn't have to pay extra.  That was nice.
