Just got the rather sad news that Mystery and Imagination Books is closing - no one supports mom and pop bookstores anymore and they should be ashamed of themselves. It was a wonderful store - you could go there, hang out for hours, meet like-minded folks and attend signings. I did signings for every one of my books there - in fact, I was the first author to ever sign there and there have been hundreds since me. And next year, I will not be signing there because people just do not care enough. Oh, they will - you'll read, "Oh, it's so sad we can't go there anymore" when they never went there in the first place. It's much more fun for people to feel nostalgia for something rather than actually support it. It was like that for vinyl, only guess what - it made a comeback and suddenly there are mom and pop vinyl stores everywhere so people can relive what they had in the first place. I tell you, it turns my stomach.
