Was able to squeeze in THIS GUN FOR HIRE this afternoon. Beautiful transfer and solid mono sound. Alan Ladd was certainly beautiful. You can see why the world flipped for him in this movie.

Favorite second act moment - not sure of the title, but Track 21 solo "Beautiful Inside" maybe? Beautifully sung with just the perfect sense of poignancy. Memorable.

"A Slight Neurotic" written by our very own, BK, and performed by Miss Susanne Blakeslee.

And thank you one and all and all and one for the faboo birthday wishes!  (did I just say faboo?  I never say faboo!  It must be the tine walking.)

I am presently settling back from my second partayin two nights.  Last night, with my friends, I had my "naughty" partay.  Tonight, with my family, I had my "nice" partay.  It's really been one of my grandest birthdays ever!

And, I was right the first time, it is Susanne with an "s".

;)

*I can't wait to see the DVD either!  It's always getting to see the show from the audience's viewpoint.  Hopefully, the weather will cooperate tomorrow night, and I'll be able to drive back down to Richmond for the night.  And, hopefully, my copy of WHAT IF? will be waiting in my pile of mail.

Good evening, fellow dear readers. What a long day it has been.

Happy Birthday (although a bit late) to Dear Reader Dan the Man and to Dear Reader PennyO!!  It's not too late for a cake report!

Note to DR Jose: if you have a sniffly nose, the nurses  would probably prefer you not visit the hospital.

Tomorrow is our Christmas Pageant at church. The director (who seems to want to keep the program a surprise from everyone) had to leave the state for a family emergency. No one really has any idea what the program is supposed to be. I guess it will all be a big surprise tomorrow. On us all.

I didn't know how to put the program info in the DVD package, as its in that slimline case.  I think Michael Shayne has it up at the bk website.

Happy Birthday (although a bit late) to Dear Reader Dan the Man and to Dear Reader PennyO!!  It's not too late for a cake report!

Last night I had a chocolate cake with rum chocolate frosting and rum whip cream.  Tonight, I had a traditional pound cake with buttercream frosting.  Lots of rosettes, along with scoops of chocolate mint ice cream.

Note to DR Jose: if you have a sniffly nose, the nurses  would probably prefer you not visit the hospital.

...Which I tried to explain to my Mom, so...

Also... I don't mind visiting people in the hospital, but when a visit more or less amounts to sitting - and sometimes sleeping - in the room while the person you are visiting is sleeping, that is not my idea of a good visit.  Especially if the diagnosis is very good.  Yes, I know that sounds very selfish, and it is.  But when you keep being "told" that it's "OK" to keep going on with your normal daily routine...  Ah, well...

Sorry to vent... All better now.

However, I am truly thankful that my Dad's surgery went well.  That they caught the cancer very, very early.  And, most importantly, that he'll be home in time for Christmas.

And.... Ssssshh... My brother, Jay, was able to work out some extra time off next week, so he'll be flying in from San Diego on the 29th to surprise my Dad.  He'll be able to stay for a week or so.  Additionally, my brother Jay's birthday is January 1, so we'll all be able to celebrate his birthday and the New Year together - and that hasn't happened in years.

This is a happening place, baby.  I just finished the first of four Edgar Wallace movies, a box set from Germany.  These films all had horrid English dubs here in the US (the dub is included), so it's nice to see them in German with English subs.  That said, there's something wackier about the dubs.  The first film in the box (I started with Box 3 - there are, thus far, six box sets with four films each), 1962-1963.  The first film isn't so hot, but the second one, which I've begun is much better, directed by the man who did most of these, Alfred Vohler.  The first one wasn't directed by him and it really shows.  I think ninety percent of the films were directed by Vohler - I've also got boxes four five and six on their way.

I remember seeing some of those films back in the 70s on late night TV...I enjoyed them, as I recall...but they all blend together in my mind. As you watch them I would be most curious to know which titles you enjoy...I know some of them are available from Alpha video in the English dubbed versions and I have thought about picking them up.

Now I love whipped cream about as much as bk loves white cotton underpants (UNDERPANTS!)... but I've never heard of run whipped cream. Please describe in glorious detail.
