Elmore, have you seen the miniseries based on Gaskell's North & South? It's from 2004. Netflix is running it. I don't know whether to invest the time. I haven't read the novel yet.

DR JOHN G I liked the movie version of THE GROUP....some real standouts among the actresses but especially Jessica Walter, Kathleen Widdoes, and Joanna Pettet - but they are all good.

The men are such cads and nearly impossible to take....the characters not the actors - although the roles are pretty thankless.

I read about 1/3 of the book before giving up.....Candace Bergen is beautiful.

Birding was rather unremarkable today, although we did go to a new spot. We drove around some farmland, which had miles of broccoli plants.

I had planned on reading one of her novels. After watching North & South, Cranford, and Wives & Daughters, all of which I thought were wonderful I decided to pass on the books.
