DR Panni, while you were sticvking your hand in the toliet I was pulling saoking wet sweaters out of the washing machine, wringuing them out and sticking them in a bucket, then I had to get the wet/dry vacuum, suck all the water out of the washer, haul that vaccum up tha stairs and dump in out in the tub........... what a night for women plumbers!~!

Note to DR Jane...sorry I didn't get to the bagel shop this morning, we had Part II of the washer fiasco. It turned out the outside pipe WAS frozen, DH ended up disconnecting it, pouring hot water over the small exit pipe to clear it and then pulling out his pick, he dug a trench in the frozen tundra that is our back lawn (he is so handy, I love my handy Mann!!) so that we can get the rest of the laundry done

Next week egg and rye bagels unlress we freeze to death in this supposed "Storm of the Century"

I am now going to relax on the couch and watch my new DVDr (via Ebay) of Roger Corman's ROCK ALL NIGHT starring Abby Dalton and Russell Johnson, then take a nap.

I planned on traveling up to Portland tonight to see the double feature of two 1950s rock and roll features ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK and DON'T KNOCK THE ROCK, in prints fully restored by Columbia and presented by the Portland Art Museum...but I have had a sore throat for the last couple of days and don't know if I will feel up to going...but doggone it I would love to see those two movies. Maybe if I rest I will feel more energetic.

PS: JRand54, I wish you lived close by as you are the only person I know that would actually go to see those two movies with me! All of my buddies here suddenly got busy when I asked if they wanted to go! LOL!

I am listening to Percy Faith's perfectly perfect arrangment of Grusin's theme from The Heart is a Lonely Hunter. I think I might like this version better than Grusin's. Those Lydian ornaments at the end of each phrase are gorgeous. Just had to share.

This morning, I went for a walk, and this is what I saw: A driveway with "Our dogs' brains are bigger than corn" written in sidewalk chalk. Really makes you think, doesn't it?

And then some guy I didn't know in a car stuck his head out the window and asked me how my term papers turned out and if I got good grades on them. I guess I complained to the whole world about those term papers.

Matt H I was pleasantly pleased with the new cast members to MONK-still wish they would eliminate an old member. The opening scenes with her were very good-best part of the entire show. I just wish the scripts would improve.

MBarnum when you said the subtitles were out of whack I was expecting to read funny translations-not they were missing altogether.

Ginny two years ago I had surgery and came home in the afternoon. Keith practically begged them to keep me overnight but the response was only if I had complications. I happily returned home with the IV pain meds doing what they do so well. After a few hours they wore off. As far as I now know all pain meds I swallow make me very ill.

Vixmom I’m relieved you didn’t attempt to send me bagels today. I can’t believe you sucked the water out of the washing machine. It wouldn’t go out the pipes once they were cleared? Can you now leave water dripping through those pipes so they won’t freeze again? Stay warm.

Panni, DD has never looked more like you than in that photo. I would have expected the opposite with the shorter hair cut.

When they say to leave the cheesecake in the fridge overnight, they mean it! I tried making cheesecake once and didn't leave it in the fridge long enough and ate some of it instead. It was really gross!

I tried passing it off on my brother's friend who was over here and who said she loved cheesecake. She wouldn't touch this thing.

Me too, Jane, especially the Vicodan the oral surgeon gave me after I had my last wisdom tooth removed at the "ripe old age" of 52! I landed in the ER (on Mother's Day, yet) with severe GI complications.

DR Hisaka (and others, too) - Today's mail brought a package from Japan. My cousin Dan has lived there for 20 years - lives in Mie Prefecture and teaches English at a university. He sent us a New Year greeting and an album of photographs taken when we were all together in September at his brother's house in Georgia, USA.

Ginny the thought of Vicodin is making me sick. At least I am only really sick for the four hours these things are supposed to last. Worst is anytime my stomach is that sick I get horrible lower back pain that is far worse. LOL-one of the reasons I stopped at two children.

Add my compliments - DD is lovely, absolutely lovely.

I hope Tiffany's doesn't/didn't break the bank. My one trip there - for a Bat Mitvah gift for a friend's daughter - proved a pleasant surprise. The saleswoman told me that kids that age like silver, not gold, and I wound up spending less than I would have at The Bay. Plus, they delivered. Plus, my ratings went through the roof.
