Holy moley on rye - page three!  Thought we'd never make it.

Mahler loved pie.  His favorite was German Chocolate.

Somehow, BK, I think most of the folk who frequent these events would rather see a fourth-rate, grade-z TV star than a writer...Okay, we'll have it at your house.  It oughta be able to handle the flow.  I get to set up in the jacuzzi.

Loved The African Queen. And LOVED Yankee Doodle Dandy. Yes, Double Indemnity!!

Pie, huh? Rhymes with "thigh" - so I wonder if I dare???

I did find a sublet - i am here now in said sublet - 16th floor overlooking the Hudson. Gosh, whatta view!! and, by odd coincidence, in the very building where Chuckie was living when he and I first got together so many long years ago...

The skies are not blue today, but perhaps they will be as the day goes on.

Who are you all of a sudden, Gene Autry, Home on the Range?  Dear Friend BK, I want you to know in death of good pie on the Upper West Side, I did browse today at the novel THE LIFE OF PI, not a pastry in sight!

DR MattH, I look forward to seeing your letter.

DR Jane, I have two words:  mo fudge!  I would love to come visit and have Danish apple pie.  I would love to come and visit even if you didn't serve pie.

I also found that funny. Just did a little Fredd Wayne recon. He played Ben Franklin on TWO episodes of "Bewitched" and was Ben Franklin in some America-themed movie just a few years ago. Otherwise a lot of little character parts. Will he dress as BF at the event?

I would attend if he handed out currency with his picture on them.

I recently dug out a cassette recording that someone made for me from ALW's first attempt at "Jeeves" - as we all know, the first attempt did not fare well (not that the second "By Jeeves" was a winner also, but ran longer) It's a rather interesting recording. Of course, we've heard all these songs before in some form or another!!!

I'm going to take the time in the next week to put this cassette onto CD.  If any DR would like a copy (as it is very rare!) please drop me a line.  I love to share my collection!!!

As for the TOD - I wouldn't know where to begin.  But I shall do my best to eat some pie today!

So nice to have this board to chat with, while waiting for my formerly green suede boots, now dyed black, to dry so I can give them a second coat. For The Show, dontcha know...

Oh, how lonely is the waiting...

The other thing is how many of the people who are trawling the booths like us do we know...This is a small world (sometimes a scary one) and you meet all kinds of collectors and authors there.  Sometimes Rudy Behlmer.  Sometimes Bob Osborne. We can always expect to bump into the ubiquitious Myles Kreuger...author, scholar, collector, and bon vivant.

DRPogue, if you run into Miles, tell him hello for me!  I didn't think he ever went out.

Miles only LOOKS like he doesn't go out.  Miles Kruger would go to the opening of a door.

elmore, if you can't find pie, you must at least find a pastry and eat that and tell us all about it.

My one Gene Barry story froma director friend of mine.  Barry kept resisting a piece of direction in rehearsal.  The director cut and said, "Gene, come even further downstage left for that."  Barry replied, "Do I have to, Dick?  It's so cold and lonely down here."

LOL-great story.

Dear Friend BK, would that I were in Midtown!  I would hie me over to Joe Allen's for some banana cream pie.  I'll see what I can accomplish after I leave B&N at 5:00.  It may have to be rice pudding from Artie's, which is fantastic!

And you and DRPogue should ask him his opinion of the former conductor of the Kern-Herbert project.  The fur will fly!

Yes, the corn bread in a pie pan can count as long as we get a loving description of it.  Even though I cheated a bit and had pie early, I may have another slice of cherry pie this evening.

Well, DH Richard has returned from his morning of teaching astronomy to Scouts, we've had lunch (leftover pizza PIE), and now we're going out to see "Finding Neverland."

As Jose would say, "Laters!"

Whew!  Went shopping with my sister Molly.  Stopped at two thrift stores as well....got the SUGAR LP, which I thought I had, but could never find, and the DREAMGIRLS LP - the one I have skips in many places.  I have the concert CD - but I really love the cast LP.

Bought the soundtrack to LOVE ACTUALLY and DE-LOVELY at Best Buy - I know the film was soundly panned, but it may be better on the small screen.

Ahhh.........if you come late to the party....all your choices are taken, BUT....

James Cagney - One,Two,Three; White Heat (incredible performance), Public Enemy

Edward G. Robinson - Our Vines Have Tender Grapes, The Stranger, Little Caesar

Humphrey Bogart - Casablanca, African Queen,  Dead Reckoning

These are favorites and I just chose three for each....otherwise of course The Ten Commandments for EGR, Love Me or Leave Me and Never Steal Anything Small for JC, and The Barefoot Contessa and We're No Angels for  HB.

I have made my enchiladas.  I decided to fry up some chips from the remainder of the corn tortillas.  They don’t taste very good. :(  I hope my enchiladas are okay.  I guess I should have used the white corn instead of yellow corn-it might have helped.  We really don’t have a great selection of tortillas here.
