Now listening to another Korngold opera, Violanta - written when he was seventeen years old.  It's of high quality, especially his orchestrations.  I tell you, I run hot and VERY cold on opera, but these two Korngold operas I've just heard are everything I like - like The Crucible of Robert Ward, most Puccini.  I've got one more Korngold opera here, Die Tote Stadt, so that's next.  It's been an opera kind of a last few days actually.

A friend from church suggested we try Hertz auto sales

Interesting.  I wouldn't have thought of that.

We ended up with a 2018 with 14,000 miles...at $14,000 below the cost of a 2018 off the showroom floor

WOW!

Jane, I'm quite sure I haven't gained a pound and I'm really thinking, joking aside, that I may have lost a couple.  But these people who brag on Facebook that in a week-and-a-half they've lost eight or twelve pounds - I just don't believe a word they're saying.

Nope, not likely unless they had more to lose than you do.  You think you might have lost?  I knew you were joking but haven't you weighed yourself?

After my mini-rant about not being able to sell anything on eBay, the last of my test items was about to close tomorrow morning and sold just now.

Great :)

90 minutes-not bad.  Did you get a good warranty with it?

This little residue cough may never go away but the rest of the cold finally seems gone.  To celebrate we went and got our Quad flu vaccinations.

Birdy Barnum and I are listening to Chet Baker.  It took him three songs to get into it....but now he is singing along with the trumpet.....

DR JEANNE....I dance and he watches askance.....

Wonderful.

The Monsignor has taken his last bow....the audience was most enthusiastic, and everyone did a great job.

We said our goodbyes....and there were some nice sentiments expressed by the kids to me....most of which were sincere.

My dresser indeed was there for ALL the changes and READY....it was a miracle!

The audience was fantastic and ate up the songs, the jokes, the costumes, and the scenery...the orchestra rocked.  I am so happy to have been a part of it.  I love being in a hit!

What a great ending :)

A great ending, indeed.

Watching a somewhat irritating French flick called Godard Mon Amour from the man who directed The Artist. It's a story of Godard's relationship with actress Anna Wiazemsky. The character of Godard is the source of irritation, and it seems fairly true to life. Some of the humor arises from him being taken less than seriously by the young audience he wants the most. It seems the only people who like his movies are old and conformist.

The trip to Houston was a lot of fun, starting with some excellent dim sum. I was surprised at how good the place was. Everything from the crab rolls to the daikon cake, my favorite.

I discovered a little more about the Bellaire area, which is not just a concentration of Chinese markets, shops and restaurants. There's also a Vietnamese section, and the street signs go from being in Chinese to Vietnamese. The takeover has been fairly thorough, and it's all fairly segregated. We were looking for a Chinese herb shop in the Vietnamese, but it apparently went out of business, only to be replaced by a Vietnamese herb shop. The staff didn't speak either Chinese or English, and they didn't seem to want Joy's business. Strange.

Exactly. I wonder if eating everywhere this weekend had anything to do with it.

I'm up, I'm up - oh, wait...

I'm not sure I'm in the mood to watch anything this evening.  So, listening to music might be it.

So glad to hear about the Vixfam's new car! Sounds like a great deal and it's nice to hear it went so smoothly. May it become a beloved member of the family.
