I went to a cookie exchange today. Donna, the woman who throws this get-together every year, told us a great story of how she rescued a kitty stuck up in a tree. The cat was so sweet when her husband went off to the hospital shortly before he died. She walked all over Ray's space in the bed, as if asking where he was. When Donna explained to the cat that he wasn't coming home, the cat curled up with Donna and has continued to do so ever since. Elmore, Donna named the kitty Annabelle.
I have had too much sugar today.

I just came home from seeing A Carol Christmas. It was a lot of fun and we all really enjoyed it. Bruce has good reason to be proud of all his work on this. This Christmas was sung very nicely; I know the Sandy Bainum recording well and would know if it wasn't. There were some surprised for me, even after reading about all the ups and downs. For instance, I wasn't expecting a tarot reading scene. It was really fun. Peyton Kirkner, who plays Trina, the young girl with a heart problem, did a fine job and seems very comfortable on stage. I've heard Bruce talk about her, but this was the first time I've seen her perform. Hartley Powers, the lead, can certainly handle the role. We stayed for a short talkback, then battled the traffic back to West LA.

During the curtain call, we go some whistles, some shouts of “Bravo”, and even a few people gave us a standing ovation.
PBS has a Carpenters special on right now. I had forgotten how much I loved her voice.
Wow, Karen Carpenter died 35 years ago, at the age of 32.
