DR GINNY of course I know Nancy James.....but I think she's older than either of us....but if she's still singing - good for her.....she always could get off a zinger or two when her co-host would shut his big mouth.....

DR JRand, she said she was hired out of CCM at age 21 just after Paul Dixon died, which was December of 1974.  That makes Nancy a few years younger than we are, but not by much.

So, DR Elmore, Nancy James sang on the Bob Braun show, which was descended from the Ruth Lyons show.  She said she never met “Mother,” but talked to her on the phone once.  In today’s show she sang a couple of Christmas songs written by Ruth Lyons while lots of nostalgic photos were projected behind her.

Nancy was accompanied by the River City Band and I’m sure they’re all fine musicians, but they were so over-amplified I had to keep my buzzing ear covered.  I’d really like to hear them without a sound system.

She had her sinuses flushed out, as theuy've done for the past six months, and seems fine now the congestion is gone.  Same old chronic problem in which they seem unable to pinpoint a source.

I hope it will be a good long while before she needs this done again.

When I leave things out such as hair bands, or drop a needle without having to search until I find it, or other little things I did to keep the pets safe my instinct is that I am being careless though it no longer matters.

Apparently the cat was sneaking them out of the bathroom, Vixter didn't realize that they were missing

I figured she didn't realize they were missing but she wasn't keeping track either.  I am not criticizing,  just commenting on my awareness level due to having so many pets.  Long before we had children pot handles were left turned away from the edge of the stove or counter.

I went to a cookie exchange today. Donna, the woman who throws this get-together every year, told us a great story of how she rescued a kitty stuck up in a tree. The cat was so sweet when her husband went off to the hospital shortly before he died. She walked all over Ray's space in the bed, as if asking where he was. When Donna explained to the cat that he wasn't coming home, the cat curled up with Donna and has continued to do so ever since.

Elmore, Donna named the kitty Annabelle.

I just came home from seeing A Carol Christmas. It was a lot of fun and we all really enjoyed it. Bruce has good reason to be proud of all his work on this. This Christmas was sung very nicely; I know the Sandy Bainum recording well and would know if it wasn't. There were some surprised for me, even after reading about all the ups and downs. For instance, I wasn't expecting a tarot reading scene. It was really fun.

Peyton Kirkner, who plays Trina, the young girl with a heart problem, did a fine job and seems very comfortable on stage. I've heard Bruce talk about her, but this was the first time I've seen her perform. Hartley Powers, the lead, can certainly handle the role.

We stayed for a short talkback, then battled the traffic back to West LA.
