Call Me Madam is going to be good, but I wish I liked the show more.  I remain apathetic about the score as well; it's no Annie Get Your Gun!

I do like most of Merman's numbers, as well as "It's A Lovely Day Today" and "You're Just in love," but I really dislike the two ballads and I detest "The Ocarina."  The young man playing Kenneth, the secretary, is totally endearing.  His ballad "Once Upon A Time Today" is really lovely, and it's a song that never registered with me before.  I saw the Encores! production 25 years ago with Tyne Daly, and the Goodspeed production around 2000, and I sat through today's rehearsal, thinking I remember nothing about this show!

Hate The Ocarina, too. So take that, Wilhelmina!

The one time I've seen Call Me Madam was also the one time I saw Merman in the flesh.
This would have been around 1965.

Wow!  That's pretty darned cool!

I am not feeling great, mostly due to a sensitive stomach and back pain.  We returned early from our walk.  Normally I would just live with it but considering the morning figured it was best not to push it.

Our rain ended and we now have a glorious day! Cool and somewhat windy, but it's always so nice after the rain.

I worked on tax prep today, then went to Staples for copies. A number of other people had the same idea. When I got home I realized that I'd missed some things, so I'll have to return tomorrow. Sigh.

Lots of people were out, pleased, I think, to see the sun again. Restocking the pantry, I suspect, too.

Thank you.  I am relieved delaying it over a year didn't matter.

Getting to the mail place was a nightmare - signals out all over Sherman Oaks and idiot drivers completely unaware of how to deal with it.  I had to go out of my way, but I got around all of it.

And here you have it.  Of course, they don't say what the cause was, which is disgusting.

SHERMAN OAKS, CA — A power outage affected thousands of people in the San Fernando Valley Tuesday afternoon, and authorities don't expect the power to be returned until after 9 p.m.

The power outage is affecting Los Angeles Department of Water and Power customers in the areas of Sherman Oaks, Valley Village, Van Nuys and Valley Glen. Utility officials did not say what cause the outages, and it wasn't immediately clear exactly how many customers were affected.

Thanks John.  I am starting to feel a bit better.  I found out why I take longer to bounce back after a colonoscopy compared to Keith.  It seems I have a torturous colon ;D

When we lived in Ashland we would call the power company to report our power was out.  If they already knew about it the recording would often say why it was out.

Almost done at the dentist.  My dentist is cool!  He rides a Harley to work.

Even in this weather?

It was actually quite nice today.  Like a Spring day, no wind, sunny and in the high 50s

Little wind here and the sun shining made for a nice walk.  I wish I could have finished it.

Well, I must be off.  Tonight is the first of two rehearsals to prepare for a reading of a new musical by one of the writers of Cinder Edna that I was in last year.  We'll see how it goes.

Be back later.
